My, my, my.

What a quaint headspace you have, miss writer. A few too many ... familiar faces, I must admit. I cannot imagine getting along with a single one of them. They seem rather distressed.

You do see the mistake you are making here, yes? Stepping forward into something with a simple notion, and naught the faintest of ideas where to take it. I've sit here for quite some time now, waiting for a little attention, and here I am now with only a name and a tentative story behind me.

The others did say you were the type to rush into things. I suppose it's better of me not to be surprised about it, hm?

But I appreciate the effort. I even get to have a little fun, which is more than what I can say for the rest of them. Perhaps you like me best.

That is terribly sad. They are wonderful and loyal friends to us both...to the version of you who is my brother, that is.

What is it that they hunt, exactly?

[ophis]

You sound very grateful to them.

[ Ah- a pause, considering. ] They hunt ... murderers.

[coffeemugsmash]

[ That pause is more than a little disconcerting, but he takes it at face value. ]

That is rather noble of them.

And yes, I am always grateful to have such friends by my side. Do you not have anyone similar?

[ophis]

[ Noble ... he chooses not to say anything on the matter. ]

I did tell you I was alone, didn't I?

[coffeemugsmash]

I...cannot fathom such a thing. You truly have no one?

[ophis]

Some of us function better in solitude, mister Thor.

[coffeemugsmash]

Just Thor, please. Surely you must have SOMEONE you can turn to.

[ He sounds genuinely distressed by this idea of Loki being so alone. ]

[ophis]

Thor, then.

[ He can sense it, and he shakes his head. ] It is safer for someone like me to travel alone.

[coffeemugsmash]

It is never safe to travel alone. Even under the best of conditions.

[ He intended to say more, but he halts, having reached his intended destination: a bar. ]

Here at last!

[ophis]

[ He arches a brow at their destination, seemingly unimpressed. Ah, good ol' bars. ]

There is plenty yet you still do not know about me to make such a bold statement.

[coffeemugsmash]

It is by no means a judgement of you or your position. Any travel without a companion is far more dangerous than with one

[ And he unceremoniously heads for the door, and inside. ]

[ophis]

No, I meant what I said. [ He follows inside, already scouting the place for ... appetizers. ] But, I suppose you will find out soon enough.

[coffeemugsmash]

Your world must be far safer than any of those which I know.

[ He was about to head for the bar, but stopped. He did not want to make his companion uncomfortable. There were plenty of empty tables, some in the middle, some at the far back. ]

Would you like to choose where we shall sit?

[ophis]

[ And that makes him laugh, softly. ] Oh, if only.

[ His world's as safe as any other. He's just the one that everyone else has to be kept safe from. But-- another tale for another time. Loki has no problems sitting at the bar, but he slides his hand into the crook of the man's arm and leads him to a table out of the way. ]

(I cannot express how much I am enjoying this!)

[ He allows himself to be led to the table. The gesture on Loki's part strikes him as a little odd, but he brushes it off as being a difference between this man and his real brother. He really was far too trusting of Loki--any Loki--for his own good.

Once at the table, he settles himself in, immediately looking for the person to order a drink from. ]

(aww, me too!)

[ophis]

[ Loki chooses to take the seat next to Thor, rather than sit across from him. The trusting type are always the best to befriend, after all. And look at the muscles on this one. Yummy.

He orders a simple glass of red wine from the next waiter that passes, and he leans back in his seat with legs crossed and hands folded in his lap. ]

(I want to know so much about the AU you've created...but I'm a sucker for such things)

[ Thor places an order for the largest possible beer they offer, paying little mind to Loki's choice of seating. He was accustomed to dining elbow-to-elbow with all of his friends and companions, after all.

He turns to better address Loki, looking almost eager. ]

You said that you have never heard of me. Does this mean no legends or myths of Asgard exist in your world?

( he's still a work in progress, but I have most of it figured out x3 )

[ophis]

[ Definitely eager. Loki doesn't mind the closeness, he has a better view from here. ]

Myths of a different sort exist where I come from.

Have you ever heard of a human that could ... turn into a wolf, unwillingly, whenever the moon is full?

(You've certainly got me hooked!)

[ His brow furrows as he concentrates on the words. He'd heard plenty of myths and stories involving wolves and transformations. But nothing that quite fit that description. So he shook his head at last. ]

No, I do not believe I have. Is this mere myth for you, or is it something you know to exist?

(eee :3 we'll have to play more, then! )

[ophis]

They are certainly real.

[ Their drinks are served, and Loki takes a casual sip of his wine as he continues to watch his companion. His eyes may or may not be darting back and forth between the other man's eyes and his neck. ]

And they are only one class of supernatural creatures that exist where I am from.

(Indeed!)

[ He very much does not notice the focus of the other's eyes. Mostly because his attention is upon his newly arrived drink. And in taking his first, long drink, he unintentionally gives quite the view of his neck. Tilting his head back as he downs a sizeable portion of the beer.

He sets the glass down and swipes the heel of his hand across his lips before refocusing on Loki. Supernatural and mythical creatures being no stranger thing for him, he's very curious. What else could there be? ]

Only one? What other manner of creatures are there?

[ophis]

[ ... nice, thick neck. If Thor happened to be looking, he would catch the other man's tongue sweeping across oddly pointed teeth. ]

Oh, there are plenty.

The walking undead, spirits unable to cross over, creatures who feast on the blood of others. It's a terrible, dreadful place.

[coffeemugsmash]

[ He did see it, but paid it no mind. Having little knowledge of some of the more modern human myths, he passed it off as just another small difference. He was far more distressed over what Loki said. ]

Is there no one to stand against them? No heroes or warriors to fight these evils? No guides to show the lost souls to their eternal rewards?

[ophis]

[ He's so noble, it's almost precious. Loki almost sees it as a pity, but not quite. He has another sip of his wine and sighs, leaning back a ways in his seat. ]

There are hunters, here and there. I do not care for them personally, as they always feel the need to thrust garlic cloves in my face without so much as a hello.

[coffeemugsmash]

[ He takes another pull from his beer as Loki speaks, draining to almost the halfway point. He looks up from it, a bit confused. ]

Garlic? Is that a standard custom for your world?
