I suppose all I can do now is to pray that they keep Adrian out of this..."alternate timeline" of theirs. I don't think I could bear to not recognize my own son...or the heirlooms that identify us as family.

As much as I enjoy teasing your father about their take on his origins, I do find myself genuinely worried for the future. If things continue this way, I fear I may never see you reappear. At least, not as my son, since I doubt I'll be kept as I am.

Perhaps that's the most frightening thought of all...

Things are bound change, I am afraid... It is no loss to me if I am to remain out of the spotlight. Let me remain in the shadows where I belong.

[Lisa sighs at the mention of change. It's such a loaded thought that she's almost glad his words progress as they do. The sudden swell of objection she feels is enough to push the more pressing thoughts aside, which is a relief.]

Adrian, darling, you know how I feel about that...

[Her words are chiding, but still gentle and loving. She's decently sure she knows most of his reasons for wanting to remain hidden away, but she'll always have a hard time with the thought. He brought her so much joy that it would be impossible for her to imagine a world without him.]

The Belmonts are a strong and noble clan, to be sure, but you are absolutely irreplaceable.

Besides, seeing you in new installments of our timeline never fails to give me strength. It serves to remind me why my voice has not yet faded.

[Of course, she's obviously quelled by that last thought. The tension that had built in her shoulders dissipates and she gives a soft smile.]

[Out of respect and love for his mother, Alucard bows his head somewhat and lets that particular subject fall. While he does and always will believe that his place is out of sight, helping from the shadows, he can understand his mother's perspective as well. Though she lives on in his memory, it is not always enough, not being able to see her.]

[He is one far less apt to relax, but the fact that his mother seems to be put at peace for the moment also puts him at peace. The stern and emotionless face he always wears softens, as it often does in her presence.]
