The metaphor was relevant for describing how an army of the Chitauri saw the meager forces of Midgard. I didn't bother investigating all the sayings of your society. [Geez Darcy, he'd been on Earth for all of 3 days. Give him a break. And he's not interacting with his mun's knowledge at all, the insipid girl would only take it as encouragement.]

And that's sort of my point, instead of killing people and threatening violence. You should have played to the crowd. You're charismatic and well spoken, with the right speeches, you probably could have had people willingly worshiping at your feet. But nooooo, you had to be all cliche villain and just start blowing stuff up. Of course no one is going to want you for a ruler if you come in as a conqueror with your alien hordes.

Throughout human history every conqueror that managed to build an empire, saw it crumble around them because the people they were ruling rose up against them.
