I'm not sure how I feel about being held captive in a city full of tyrants. You know how I feel about bullies; we've had this discussion before. So far, everyone's been helpful (or loud), and I don't know if all that excessive swearing is necessary either...

Well, I'll do what I can while I'm there. People always are going to need help, after all.

The bad guys don't take vacations, so neither can I. That's not how it works. I didn't really have much of a choice in the matter; it's just the hand I was dealt.

Dr. Banner, trust me. You'd hate it here. I've only been here for a few days and I've been warned about all sorts of things. And. [Steven can only imagine how badly it might end should Dr. Banner be trapped in a city with invisible walls and unseen captors.]

There's no known way to escape.

I think I'll be fine, but things might get nasty pretty quickly. Apparently, it's unpredictable, though the other captives tell me no one has died yet.

[Steve keeps his eyes narrowed; he finds nothing amusing about this at all.] They said you were a god. I don't believe that for a moment, but if that's the case, you'd be able to fight for yourself instead of having other people clean up your own damn messes.

[He has no idea what a Jötun is, but he'd fight it in a heartbeat if if threatened innocent lives.]

You know it's never that easy. [Steve is smiling a bit, though.] It's nothing but a glorified prison camp. But I'll make sure everyone gets home.

I know you will, you're Captain America. Even if you can't get everyone home I know you'll at least keep everyone safe. Wish I could be a little more like you in that sense.

I'm certain that you'll do fine there, captain. From what I've been told, the city has its dangers, but it's a good place in its own way.

One of the ladies in my headspace asks if you could keep an eye on her friends. She's been worried about them.

And this...is why I don't sleep. You think you're going to bed...but nope!

Sounds like you know about as much as everyone else here, but one of the other captives told me something similar. I guess we'll find out while I'm there.

[Steve smiles warmly.] Tell your friend I'd be happy to. What are their names? I'll keep an eye out.

I was almost sent there, once upon a time, but none of our friends would have been there. My mundane worried I wouldn't fit in without a team to be a part of.

[Smiling, she offers Steve a manila folder that contains carefully typed notes of who had been in the city a few months ago.]

Miss Rand had this prepared, just in case someone we knew was sent there. She had the feeling that eventually you or your team would wind up there.

That's the thing. Crime would mean someone's doing something against the law. But this place has no laws. It's more of a matter of just doing what's just by these people.

You're not the first person who thinks I have a lousy choice in vacations. [Steve smiles a little dryly.]
