I - [Luke's head is tipped back, wavering a little. He's too new in the Force to get a reliable feel for the world around him with it, and he's still figuring out the different impressions it gives him.] - I don't think this will work out.

So... okay, you uploaded a full set of icons and found keywords. And I'm not helpless, I can still fight if I have to. A Jedi doesn't need eyes.

...That's what you named the journal? Isn't that a little -

Anyway, this isn't a good time. I messed up. Maybe now I can't do as much to try and fix it as I could otherwise, but I still have to do what I can.

Um. [If Leia was here, she'd immediately try to recruit... whoever this is, and Luke wishes he could do the same. But... he doesn't know what he'd say.] All right.

Friend of Obi-Wan's am I. Knew your father, did I. Save him... I could not.

[His father! Luke's met some people who knew him in passing, and he always likes to hear about it. He's trying to mold himself off the Hero With No Fear.]

It wasn't your fault. I mean, if Ben couldn't beat Darth Vader... [Luke shakes his head, hard enough that the ends of the blindfold flap a little. He doesn't want to think about it; if he thinks about losing Ben, he'll think about everything else he's lost. Better not.]

[Yoda knows what he is thinking just by watching him.]

Rest, you should. Worry about these things, you should not. Meet you I shall, when healthy you are.

But there might not be time! There are things I've got to do, I messed up... And I'm fine, I just... need to keep this thing on. A few days of darkness and probably some bacta will take care of it.

[He's been told, and he hopes, and he doesn't want to dwell on.]

[And Yoda thought he was feisty and immature when he met him the first time!]

[Not after what happened to his aunt and uncle, not after knowing what the Empire is capable of.]

[He chuckles out-loud this time, greatly amused.]

[Now he knows why he felt compelled to toyed with Luke so much when he first arrived on Degobah.]

[Luke frowns.] I don't know what's impossible anymore.

[Luke is spectacularly easy to troll...]

[Yoda's ears pick up. He is pleased to hear that.]

Good! Goooooood! Soon ready you will be. Hummm... soon now.

Ready? I'm not sure I like the sound of that...

But lacking trust, you are.

[Yoda will need to discuss that with Obi-Wan.]

I trust too easily. That's what got me into this mess. [By which he means whichever circumstances led to him needing a blindfold and messing up very badly.]

And yet, trust the Force you do not. Learn you nothing from Obi-Wan?

[Sigh.] I let it guide me when I fought - I had to. I couldn't see or think.

And I started it when I shouldn't have, but they did all try to kill me then... and I didn't kill any of them. Two dozen people, and none of them dead or even maimed.

Guess that's the only good part. It kept me from absolutely ruining everything. There's still a chance.

And the Force... tell you nothing about me?

[It's not a test, more gentle prodding.]

What? [Luke's head wavers again. There's a long pause.]

...I can't really control it. It sort of comes and goes. Really I can only always tell if someone's hostile to me - and even then, sometimes...

Learn you will. One day...

I hope it's soon. I don't think my father's ever been this unsure...

[Yoda sounds sad to Luke's ears.]

Have doubts, everyone does.

[He'll not mention that it was the doubts that caused Anakin to turn to the Dark Side.]

[He is sad. Luke's response to trauma is to throw himself into things and sublimate it all into the cause. But when he can't see he has to slow down a lot, and there's no choice but to stop and think.]

They sure do a better job at concealing them.

Some, not all. In time, will you learn. Promise I do.

There's just so much at stake... so much I have to do. And I have to do a lot of it alone. I've heard Ben's voice a few times, but so much of the time he's not there.

Patience. Soon you will learn.
