Correct. It's the same thing as a human parent, except our genetic material isn't what makes the trolls. That is still left to other trolls but I'm told the process is so different that humans would find it very weird.

At certain intervals adult trolls must have sex or find themselves killed by the imperial drones. However the genetic material doesn't fertilize troll's eggs if they even have that sort of genetic makeup. It's instead put into a pail or bucket.

Then it is taken to a creature called the mother grub and it is given this slurry of genetic material to lay eggs which will become the next generation of trolls.
