And they shouldn't scare you in the first place. Now calm down, take some deep breaths, and introduce yourself. I got your back.

The pegasus pony closes her eyes and takes a few deep breaths, calming herself down.]

H- hello. My name is Fluttershy, and I guess I'm here to.. to introduce myself. I... I like animals, and I have lots of friends.

...Um.

Old Man Discord created me. I haven't seen him since he was turned into a statue. Heh, but imagine the look on his face when he sees me.

I have no bucking clue where clock tower 2 is, or why your mundane would ask something like that.

A statue? That sounds rather tragic...though in some ways, it can be a good thing. Why was he turned to stone?

In that regard, I'll safely conclude it as my mun being the odd one in the bunch while I'm stuck with him.

Oh, not much. He only tries taking over Equestria, bringing it into an age of darkness and chaos, then came back millennia later to bring about an age of darkness and chaos by tearing the friendship 'Shy has with her friends apart, also forcefully mindraping them into twisted personifications of their weaknesses and causing massive psychological damage to everypony in Equestria.

[Of course she says all that rather casually.]

The only good thing to come from that Old Man is me.

Not bad...not bad at all. I would've loved to see all of this happen; it's a shame that humans can't travel to Equestria.

Then you are the "twisted personification" of Fluttershy's weakness? I normally know better than to judge by appearances, but I can't say with any certainty what that weakness might be.

Actually, I'm a little different. 'Shy was kind, so Discord wanted her to be cruel. He made me to be cruel. You can see how that turned out.

I would say not exactly as he planned. Forgive me for overstepping boundaries, but you don't seem as cruel as one would expect you to be...unless you're exercising restraint just to speak with me?

Nope. Not really. When I started out, I was playing keep away with a book and dumping water on ponies. Good times.

Now? ...Have you ever heard of the phrase "cruel to be kind"?

I have. It was coined by Hamlet himself. Sometimes, doing right means doing wrong...that's something I'm very familiar with.

Very well; I'll give you a brief summary.

As emperor, I simply wanted my empire to flourish. However, things got out of hand and it became so powerful, it slaughtered millions and enslaved others. If it continued, it would've destroyed the entire planet. I had to step in, but directly interfering would only get me killed and leave the empire to roam unleashed.

However, I still took action. In short, I deceived and manipulated a young girl into battling my empire for me; I loaned her my dolls, but I was really pulling all of the strings, even hers. Once it was completely destroyed, I had her kill me so there could be no chance of it ever rising up from the ashes. One girl dies, another girl is emotionally crushed and the world keeps spinning...fair trade.

[Fluttercruel sort of flinches.]

...Something sort of like that happened to us, too...

I... made 'Shy freak out and turn into a Nightmare. She turned everyone into baby fillies and stole all of their pain for herself. And not just a single town, she took the pain of everypony in Equestria. I fought my way out of Tartarus to help her. I was ready to die for her sake...

Lucky it all worked out in the end...

It must've been painfully difficult for you, venturing from Tartarus and back...but I'm glad it worked for the better.

It's such a shame how the world works, isn't it? One little oversight can create a doomsday scenario. But after all of that, you and Fluttershy still remain close...I'm admittedly jealous, but you certainly have my respect.

It's really nothing. Fluttercruel helps me out a lit, but there's no need to be jealous. It was actually my fault for not taking Fluttercruel's lesson the right way.

Then I'll settle for admiration. Either way, it's very enlightening to hear that your friendship with her can be put to the test and triumph. You're certainly a role model for me, Fluttershy.
