Yes, they did. I don't understand it myself. Of course, even then I will still do my best to help them if the situation arises. It's something I enjoy doing.

Yes. [And actually this is a good chance to educate Sophie! Learn well, young Padawan.] You could say it comes down to probability. What are the chances of something happening if you don't try? Zero. People who give up and cry without trying have a zero percent chance of achieving their goals.

Take cooking as an example. If you decide not to try learning to cook, you won't learn it at all. It is as simple as that.

-Ah. [The Detective thrives off recognition but it's been a while since Erika got blunt praise like that.] Well, I read a lot for starters. Fiction mostly but anything that sounds interesting or useful. I also watched people and learned patterns in how they act.

Hmm...this is an obvious and generalized example but when someone is surprised, their voice rises and their eyes widen, right? Most people do that. So you can find patterns in other reactions, too.
