From what my mundane says, Adstringendum is quite a harsh place, but they all are doing well.

It's still better to have it than not. And it's unlikely to suffer much damage, given how careful you are with it. No one's stupid enough to challenge you over it's care.

There's a difference between roughing it in buildings and roughing it in tents. You won't be sleeping on the dirt, and you'll have better shelter from the rain and wind.
