Okay, I know things weren't going well, but as far as solutions go this really doesn't count as one. We all knew it was dangerous, and we all knew it was necessary. Not saying if it paid off or not is cold!
You're also banking on the fact I was trying to demorph already when I trip -- trip! -- or fall or not have a grand old time getting through the window into the Cite Gazette place, so that when the extra, on top of trying not to die pain that's my soul getting separated from me hits? I finish demorphing before I pass out.
If I end up a green scaled paraplegic I am blaming you for all the really weird hospitals that I'll be ending up in. And then we're going bobsledding. I'm pretty sure a crocodile-girl who can't walk can still go bobsledding.

[Carefully neutral! He knows how paranoid the Animorphs are, and he's not all that impressed with most of them, especially Marco.]

[ She looks around, eyes "wide," hand coming up to move over her mouth. She figures it isn't what he's stating, but hey. ]
Say it isn't so!
[ Her hand lowers, and she's got something of a smile on her face. ]

Animorphs. I know some of the others.

[ If she is looking at him with a certain sparkle of interest in her eyes, largely because he's pretty large, definitely alien to her, and not Hork-Bajir. ]

Then yeah, I'm part of the group under James. We're kind of the back-up, new morphs on the block.
[ Ready to do what they could, if yes, limited by their own lack of general experience. Guess it didn't matter in the end. Being picked off from a distance was disheartening, but it had to have paid off. Had to. ]
Who're you? If you don't mind, what are you? Are those wings? Can you fly?
[ Wheeling a bit closer to him with at least some general semblance of caution but woooah okay not really enough all things considered. ]
I'm Collette. [ she offers him a hand. please don't tear off her arm or something that'd be a terrible day to have. ]

[He's not surprised he may not have heard of this particular group. He takes her hand and shakes it, being careful with his claws.]
Name's Kang. I'm a draconian, and no, I can't fly.
[There's a still-healing rough hole around the size of an orange in the membrane of his right wing, but that's not why.]

Jake's the big guy. James works under Jake, and then we work under James or one of the others who ended up better after everything.
[ Collette doesn't see the hole at first, so her response is more a nod to how odd life really can be. ]
Guess I know what it means to have parts of you that act more like accessories than people expect. You can move them though, right?
[ They're there, and you see them, but they don't work like people expect them to. ]
Woah, what happened?
[ And then she noticed the healing hole. ]

There was a battle recently. I got shot by a pretty big bullet. Better my wing than my torso, though, huh?
no subject
Bah, James probably would know. Or Tommy. Maybe even Kelly. ]
Yeah, torso wounds are the worst. If you survive you get to worry about the infections, bed sores, and all the other fun stuff. This way you're up and around, no problem!
[ But... wait, let's backtrack. ]
You know about the Animorphs, you're not a Yeerk, and I haven't heard anything from James about you. Where were you fighting? On Earth? Where did you meet any of the Animorphs? Who did you meet?
[ She's not usually this bad with the questions, if she's letting herself be for now. So much to know! Ask! Figure out! Figure out if was true. ]

[And he's got at least one scar to prove it, on his back.]
I met them on a ship traveling the multiverse. We've had some problems with yeerks before; I've met Jake's entire group and a few others from your world.

You did? They're not on Earth anymore?

What?!
[ Give her a while, she'll get to asking the how after she's done staring up at Kang like he just said something even crazier than all the other stuff. This is serious. It is Big Doodoo. Earth didn't exist anymore? But -- but! ]
How!

[ This is so bogus if this is what everyone died for HAHAHA OH. SO. NICE, MULTIVERSE. ]
Are they winning? Right now?
