[ a laugh, one that's inviting and warm, though he doesn't mean it. he never does. the smile falters before he shrugs, lips pulled down in a sardonic frown. ]

I suppose you're the expert, right?

[ a quick once-over with a cut of his eyes. unimpressive. his arms fold across his chest and he tilts his head. this is frustrating, and it's far past the rhetorical question being cutely answered. ]

No. [ he finds that foolish. ] Is yours?

[ head turns, looking around as if this can't possibly be happening. he then faces forward, finger to his own chest. who, me? he laughs, lowering his hand and folding them both neatly behind his back. ]

Me? Really? That just proves my point. You must be an expert in stupid. Look at you — picking some kind of fight? Or is this a — [ a smile that's very cat got the cream. ] — way to see if I'll take the bait?

[Paul just smirks back at the other.] Picking a fight? No, never. Poking fun at someone? I do that a lot. It's fun.

[ the smirk is returned ten-fold. his eyes light up slightly, as if this seems to be a challenge. he likes those. ]

Poking fun at everyone? Sounds tedious when you think about it. You remind me of someone ... someone I haven't seen in a long time.

It's not particularly tedious. But I don't meet a lot of people outside of the tribe.

... and your first instinct is to poke fun. That's an interesting way of meeting people, and when I say interesting — I mean that you could have a little respect.

So what? Most people poke fun at me first, calling me "indian boy" and such.

Seems a bit unfair to me — being called names. Teach them a lesson?

Teaching them a lesson tends to land me in trouble. I'm stronger and more durable then most.

As am I — we're above it. Being stronger, being more durable ... it just means that we're better.

That sort of attitude is kinda concerning. Those whom invaded our lands also considered themselves better than us.

You don't think you're better than those who would do you harm?

Depends on what sort of threat we're talking about. Regular ignorant humans? It's not worth it. people whom are actually capable of harming me? That's another matter. Like vampires.

Vampires? That's a new one. How do you fight a vampire? Sunlight, stakes? Or is this more complicated?

I find that tearing them into pieces works quite well.

That's one way to do it. As long as it's reliable, then go for it, right?

It's the way we deal with leeches around here. Sunlight doesn't work on them. It just makes them easier to spot. Haven't tried stakes though.

Stakes are what I've heard in stories. I'm not familiar with vampires — in my world, they don't exist. They're just fiction. Here, well. I suppose that's different?

You'll find that alot of things that you think is fiction, isn't. I didn't think vampires existed either... until they shown up on our doorstep.

In this nexus... even more strange things may come to get you.

Why do you fight them, if I might ask? Are they just inherently evil, or is there a purpose?

I'm prepared for that.

Historically vampires has been a threat to our tribe. One of my ancestors, a chieftain, made a deal with a wolf spirit to help defend the tribe. Since then whenever vampires are near, a couple of boys from the tribe phases. We becomes shape-shifters to help defend the tribe, capable of turning into large wolves.

There's currently two packs responsible for the tribe. I'm third in line of the Uley pack.
