No, we don't have to go that far, even though there's a few folks here who would. But they do expect us to kill our opponents, and some of the people they bring here... They really shouldn't be pitted against people with proper training.

Near as I can tell, it's because the people running things have a real sick sense of humor. On Valentine's Day they sent pretty much all of us out to fight in pairs 'in the spirit of the holiday'.

So why not go take out the guys who're runnin' the show?

We'd've already taken care of them if it was that easy. We've talked to the head bitch in charge exactly once when the first group of us got here, and that was over these communication devices they gave us. Everything else has been through text messages or intermediaries.

Their goons aren't hard to find, but the actual higher ups are making themselves scarce.

Right on both accounts. And what they do to people who try to buck the system ain't pretty.

They beat up the girl who was being most vocal about not going along with their games pretty badly. And they cut out the tongue of this one guy who was giving advice to other people on how to find loopholes in their rules.

They what?! But how'd they even get to 'em to do that if they ain't even around?!

They got their thugs to do it, of course. And they keep track of what we do and where we live. I think it's mostly through the communicators we all got, but I wouldn't discount them having other methods, too.
