What in the actual.....

You have absolutely no idea how pissed off I am at you right now! You dragged me into this reality, you hooked me up with your second-youngest muse and because of what's coming down in her life - and the interference from the Azzh**e you think the quip from another of our headmates has some real potential as even a meta storyline?!

What about Joie? Seriously....what about her?!

If you do this, if either of you really does this, I promise you, I will pull out all of the stops and make your life a living hell!

For godsake, Man! What are you fussing about? I only made the suggestion based on what the girl herself said to her godfather as a child! It seems a rather convenient way to get you both out of the untenable situation in which you find yourselves.

If anything you should be thanking me.

*snorts* Obviously you have no clue as to what being a ruler is about! The girl is set to inherit the throne, and here you are....a musician...with no royal blood of your own to speak of. You could be her chosen paramour for years! Wouldn't that be enough?

*shrugs* Well, that's not my fault. Who is it that failed to even ask her out? Not me. That would be.....YOU.

*shrugs* I've always found swearing to be great as expressing things in public. Let rip, Jimmy! Don't let the fact she's a queen put you off, she's no better than you. Fucking waste of money the lot of them

*raising her voice above the din of the ensuing argument* Elizabeth, shut up!

* touching Jimmy's face before sliding her fingers into his calloused ones* She's just jealous of everyone these days. Don't worry. They can't do this to us. The Court will never stand for it, my father won't hear of it - and neither will I.

*smiling up at him.* Maybe I should be the one to ask you out. *grins*

What is this?

Yes. We have. And you know the reasons why the matter was brought up in the first place. Say what you will about Elizabeth. She is, as other monarchs present have stated, still a queen, and still entitled to respect. You do not have to agree with her as I often do not - but you do have to take into account what our People are up against.

There are many faiths and regions. Each has their own interpretation of the world. Westeros is just one place of many and even within my world there are differences, barbarians and such. As for there being more than the continents that I know of? My mind spins at the idea.

Alas I doubt anybody knows for certain which is right. Though they'd put an awful lot of time and energy in convincing people of their way. Suppose the one that shouts the most is the right one, no? Or perhaps it's the other way around? The Old Gods doesn't make much noise and from what I've heard they're older than my god. Supposedly. It's not for naught that the people of the North is known as the First Men.

It matters little for the common man in any regard.

Old Lizzy? Not certain I know whom she is. But a bard is appreciated at any royal court.

The Faith of Seven is the majority religion in Westeros, along the faith of the Old Gods of the Forests. While they co-exist it's not always a peaceful existence.

George who? I do not know that name. I'm Renly of the House Baratheon, First of His Name, King of the Andals and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, and Protector of the Realm. [Until his demise but he decides against mentioning that.]

Ah a queen. You should know better than calling her old young man. Respect is a virtue and proper protocols needs to be adhered too or you might just lose your head. Alas I'm curious as which Lord of mine shares the same moral compass... many seems to lack one.
unkeptsecret: (Good mood)

[personal profile] unkeptsecret 2019-10-14 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
[It's a good thing that Renly is a merciful king. He nods back in mutual respect.]

I did not question your allegiance, I question your language and lack of proper protocol. Regardless about your feelings on the matter, nobility shall be met with respect. Even if you're challenging them to a duel.

Then do so. I'm not stopping you. [He laughs in amusement.]
unkeptsecret: (What? | Fear | Sad)

[personal profile] unkeptsecret 2019-10-14 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, it would. As should I be referred to by you as His Royal Majesty, King Renly of Westeros. "Your majesty" is enough though. I'm not certain what you refer to though, that word is foreign sounding to me.

[He stares in confusion at what he hears... it's like nothing he had heard before and it pains his delicate ears.]

Seven Hells, that's what you call music? It sounds like you're strangling a cat.

In my realm it was my people the Andals that invented protocol and etiquette. Our nobility and houses can not be found anywhere else but Westeros. We brought it here from our homeland millennia ago. The Northfolks didn't have anything like it but being divided in tribes across the North. Civilization began with us. It does sound like I'd get along with these Frenchs you speak of. It sounds like we have very similar views. I myself gained much of my support that showing I was a better ruler than my brother.

I can not speak for this Queen Elizabeth of yours I'm afraid. While I wouldn't condone it, I'm aware that my own kin aren't always kind and noble. My so-called nephew for one tortured the peasants in the Crownlands for his own amusement. Being a noble isn't for everyone and at times incompetents rulers exist.

Nor does a bard. But they still manage to sound decent.

Tribes? Here I thought you were from a civilized country.

I'd have two brothers so it doesn't exactly nail it down. Robert was the oldest. He only married once however. Not that it stopped him from laying around with several women and father several bastards. He cared little about the kingdom and spent most of his time eating and drinking. Stannis, my other older brother is a harsh man. I can not recall that he married more than once however. Bit he did have a steady lover, the so called Red Woman, a Priestess of the Lord of Light. I've been told that Stannis sacrificed his children to the Lord of Light. He didn't behead his wife as far as I know though. But my life was cut rather short.

Do sound like quite the story though.

It's "my lord". [He comments with an amused snort. He then listens through as Jimmy plays. The instrument is quite curious. While he has seen guitars before never with that many strings. As Jimmy finishes he gives him hearty applause.] Impressive, master bard.

Hm? Then I apologize for my ignorance. [He's still going to consider the man like a Roman considered a Celt, a barbarian. Like the Dorokhai.]

We usually do not use such terms when referring to nobility. If someone is a Lord, "your grace" or "m'lord" is preferable. If you must be that informal, "ser" can be used aswell.

Twelve strings upon a guitar? How curious. But is it still considered a guitar then? I watched my wife play the harp once in Highgarden. It was a beautiful sight to behold. My Lord Commander plays the violin himself.

Ah, I see. That explains your reaction. [He falls quiet in consideration.] There are many cultures and countries in Essos. Westeros is quite unique in how nobility rule over the smallfolk. But beyond Westeros, there are many others. Some of these have settled here, bringing their own ideals while the First Men was here from the start. Westeros and the Seven Kingdoms are certainly one of the most influential one counteries alas. But there are more than just one continent.

Harp guitar? I believe that instrument is played by the people of the North. It's not common in the southern parts.

I said it was uncommon not that it was unknown. Westeros is a large continent. It takes months to traverse across it. While a simple bard may be quicker than an army it would take a significant time to go from the Wall in the north to the south of Dorne. Still we do share culture across, if only by marrying into different houses to secure support and men. The Faith of Seven for one has reached all of Westeros, even if the Iron Islands and the north stubbornly hold on to their old gods. There are also tournaments, trade and carnivals that passes by at times.

[personal profile] unkeptsecret 2019-10-15 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
While there has been conflict between the Faith of Seven and the old gods, people are no longer killed or forced to convert as a part of it. We coexist even if we do find the others strange. Of course there are clashes at times but the Faith had found itself in a situation where compromise has had to be reached.
