It tends to be one's logical conclusion after centuries of horror stories regarding a particular creature, only to one day discover you are in fact one of them wearing a rather convincing mask.

["May" versus "can" is one lesson he remembers well, and he refers to it now. Whether he's able to see what Loki really looks like is less relevant than whether Loki will give him permission.]

[ He dances back and forth on the issue, but on the off chance that Steve has heard tales of terrible frost giants and therefore wouldn't like to see one right now, he shakes his head. ]

Okay. That's your decision. But I'm going to remind you that I started falling for you when we were still enemies, that I love you now, and that I will still love you even if you're really a... a ten-foot purple tarantula, so if you ever do want to show me I won't think any less of you afterwards.

Do you at least make silk? You could set up a pretty nice little textile business.

Not true. On very rare occasions you have been known to stop teasing and deliver.

Absolutely terrible, but patience and love get me through the hard times.

You must have an incredible amount of both to make it through the days.

[You cannot expect total innocence from someone who grew up poor in the city, even if that person is Captain America.]

The patience runs a little thin sometimes, but on those days the love makes up the difference pretty easily.

[ Not total innocence, but even so, it's just amusing to hear certain things from this particular super soldier. ]

I hope it is all worth your efforts, then.
