I mean, if I go I'll be lucky to have two days of rest before my next race. And I'm in line to win my third championship. What if this messes that up?

I just raced three races in a week. I'm exhausted as it is.

But on the other hand, it is the one thing in my career I never got to do before. And it is a class winning team.

It's something that's always been in the back of my head. I don't know if it's a dream per se, but I always wondered what it'd be like if I had been in those Le Mans I worked for Aston Martin.

Having said that, nobody's racked up three straight IndyCar championships since Dario, and if I win my third this year I'll be one of only four drivers to have at least three titles in the current era.

Michael popped up like two weeks ago. Then I never heard from him again.


Oh, this isn't the race. It's a day of required simulator time to be eligible to race. Then I'd be giving up my off week at the end of the month to race.

Yes, I have to fly to France to sit in a simulator.

I feel like I don't want to do anything that would jeopardize my championship hopes. But I also know this chance may not come around again.

Do you think you can do both? In the end any advice you may get doesn't matter if you feel it is not right.

I don't know. I mean, if Scott's doing it with a busted ankle I should be able to, but if I don't race well at Texas I'll kick myself.

Risk versus reward. Would it be worth the risk of that to you?

Not if it costs me the championship. I have a 99-point lead, so I can possibly afford to have one bad race. But you know that's all theoretical.

Then you have to decide if it is something you really want to do. If you really want to have to rely on maybe theoretically having a bad race and still doing well. Do what is best and healthy for you. If you have to turn down Le Mans, then turn it down. What you've worked hard for is more important than a race that just popped up you weren't planning for.
