See, once I'm in your head, it's really hard for me to go. Just sit back and enjoy it. You and I both know how much fun these few days have been together, and I promise you I'll make it so much more entertaining if you decide to keep at it.

Got some amazing prints out and she even made a film. She's so talented. [And not dead. Yet. Just waiting for that moment when he'll slip and Alice will find out.]

[Nightingale's eyes widen. The world grows a little darker and he taps a hand to his head, looking lost.]

Not while I have you cornered.

Well obviously do it after. [A smile.] This is way too important for you now.

[He glares at him, staggering.] I know that!

I...I know that. [his hand goes to his gun and falters] I'll shoot you and then you won't move.

Oh, I don't plan on going anywhere.

Something the matter Nightingale? [He laughs now.] Think a thing like a gun is going to scare me? It's not nearly personal enough. You need something better if you really want someone to talk.

[An odd look crosses his face, like he's struggling.] Like a knife?

Is that what you did to your wife?

Like a knife. Yes! There you go.

[Not yet.] Is that what you want me to do with my wife?

[He draws the gun then.] You stay away from her.

[But wouldn't that be right? Screaming and crying and howling and making noise. The power, the last desperate imagined scenarios of someone hurt and dying and looking-thinking-dreaming of a way out.

He wants it. No, the darkness wants it. The rage fills him and Nightingale nearly drops the weapon in his hands. He mutters to himself.]

get out of my head, get out of my head, get out..

[louder] Go to hell!

Don't you worry about her. She's safe and sound.

But look at you! What a good little agent. Determined to protect and serve. Haha. You alright? I think you should take it easy. Been working way too hard.

[he stands up straight.]

I'm getting to the bottom for F-Getting to the bottom of this.

[For Flynn. But Scratch wouldn't know that. Wouldn't know about his creative goofy partner who got mixed up too deep with finding the truth. The guy who played Mulder to his Scully and who lost himself looking for little green men.

Her name had been Beth, and she had been immersed in the darkness looking for a way out and reached out and Flynn had found her and everything had gone downhill after that.

Nightingale hated her. He despised her. But Flynn who had gone insane and shot at him and nearly killed him.]

I have to know the truth.

Oh. Oh, of course. Everyone wants the truth. Nothing but the truth. And so help you God you'll find it.

But you want to know something? You'll never get it waving that gun around of yours. You need more of an impact to get your point across. A nice, shiny blade with a stern, grip handle.

Remember our little talk with the knife? Yeah, you know what I mean.

[He raises the gun, aims-and drops it.]

Why won't you leave me the hell alone!

Sorry, but you can't have everything. Some things, yes, but not that.

...What do you want.

[he slumps, falling forward and landing on his hands. He's furious.]

What do you want me to do. Whatever it is, I'll do it.

[He approaches; a hand waving over the agent's head and slightly gives off a wave of darkness. Though not fully touched, it's enough influence to ease Nightingale's mind.]

Good. See how simple things are when you just come quietly? It's so nice when it's quiet.

[He slumps] You're not Wake are you?

Why would you say that? [He smirks, acting hurt.] I am Alan.

...Wake doesn't... [he lowers his head] Wake's not...he doesn't..

No, no he has power but not like yours.

Not like mine.

Supernatural powers, you mean? Evil abilities? [He laughs.] I'm the new Alan Wake. The improved version. Don't worry about it.

...Then what are you doing to me?

Shhh. [Another wave of his hand goes over to quiet Nightingale.]

Shh, Stop asking questions. I'll show you soon enough. And it'll be great. You'll get your truth, I promise you. I hate to disappoint.

So just stop and listen to the silence.

[He swoons, rubbing his head]

There's truth in silence? ...Truth is power.

[he wants power.]

More than you'll ever know. [And now, Nightingale gets the full on Touched by Darkness as Mr. Scratch places his fingers on the top of the agent's head.]
