But have you considered that having Krul and Yuu-chan in the same place might not be the best? What do you think will happen when she grows thirsty?

And just how long will that last? What if Yuu isn't around to take from when you get hungry?

[He eyes him warily, because he's been thinking about this constantly himself, thanks. Mika notices the words Narumi chooses, but doesn't comment on it: clearly the man has trouble trusting vampires.]

Then I will tell the squad.

[ There may be a few issues with them; two of his friends having been killed by them recently doesn't help any. ]

Are you sure? You like to keep to yourself about that sort of thing.

I would tell them.

[He frowns as he speaks, not liking where the conversation is going. At least what he says feels like the right thing.]

[Mika doesn't like to imagine what would happen if neither of them helped him with blood, though.]

It would devastate Yuu-chan if anything happened to them.

It would devastate more than just Yuu. [ Yeah, he knows Yuu is the only one Mika really seems to care about but still. ] So let's just hope it never comes to that.

[allforyuu]

[He doesn't say anything. He can agree that logically, more people will get hurt, but he can't bring himself to care in the same way about strangers he's never met before.]

[The squad isn't strangers, though. Mika doesn't want them to get hurt either, but he's seen what happens in wars and he doesn't expect their whole group to get out alive. It makes him anxious.]

[He tilts his head slowly, looking at Narumi tiredly.]

You would protect them from me, wouldn't you?

[genbushin]

Of course I would. [ And after a moment. ] I would even protect Yuu from you if I had to. Whatever it takes.

[ Because he's already lost friends, people that were his family and as the oldest of the group and a former squad leader, he's not about to lose anyone else. ]

[allforyuu]

[That seems like an acceptable compromise. If he loses it so badly that he'd attack people, he'd rather that he didn't hurt any of them.]

[He exhales, nodding once. If it came to the point where he'd attack Yuu, he would hope that someone would protect him. He can respect that.]

And I would protect them from you if you did anything to harm them.

[ Ok, that is a little unexpected? Sort of, he knows that Mika doesn't exactly like humans and figures that he merely puts up with them for Yuu's sake; he knows the blond would ditch them with Yuu if he could. ]

I wouldn't do anything to harm them. I'm not a vampire.

[allforyuu]

[Mika can't help but blink at the naivety from a soldier, of all things. Didn't they teach them to kill before they threw them out into the world?]

You're in the army. What will you do if you get the order to capture them?

In case you hadn't noticed, we've left the military and are on the run from them. Plus, last I checked? I wasn't the one experimenting on humans and killing my own comrades with them.

[ There's a bitter tone to his voice as he speaks, recalling the death of his friends. ]

I'm not the one who killed my friends in cold blood. I'm the one that saved Yuu after he lost control in that battle when he could have been handed over.

[ Genbushin having caught and shielded the unconscious Yuu before they made their escape from the military. ]

So don't talk to me about orders, vampire.
