I'm not so sure about that. She seems to have a good sense of things. [IZAYA THINKS THERE SHOULD BE MORE. AND THEN HE'LL PLASTER HIMSELF TO THE WINDOW AND WATCH.]
As far as that goes, I can only say that a piece cannot act out of character. [Witch of Love Humanity.] Isn't that so? So whatever has happened, it can't be beyond that frame.
[Can you repeat that in red? Mikado looks dubious.] I don't entirely agree. And even if it's not possible to break character, you can introduce circumstances extreme enough to warp anyone, right?
Also, things like memes don't necessarily follow an entirely rational character progression, so wouldn't it be easy to slip out of character there?
[He'll counter with the blue! Izaya doesn't really mind. He's devil's advocating again.] For memes or situations like that, it's true that they stretch the bounds of character. But since the purpose of these is to explore a character, even if it's pushing the character to an extreme, it isn't out of character. In other words, because a piece that acts out of character cheats the logic of a story, a writer has no interest in such a thing. For that reason, those threads are not out of character.
That doesn't hold any water. They don't have control of our reality in the first place, so the only place they can test these scenarios is impermanent.
Even if we're talking about a single game board, she doesn't hold back there, either. At best she's only pushed a few things further in memes or 'not canon'. I guess I'm grateful, considering what they are, but you'd be complaining if you were made to kill even off the official game board.
What are you doing? That's no way to talk to a girl. You have to seduce her with your wide eyed innocence and then make her feel it's a crime to do anything terrible to you.

[Meta!Mikado thinks you go overboard too!]

But they are overboard. There's no reason to go that far in most of them.

[A refreshing smile! Because he can be a passive-aggressive jerk when he knows meta-plans for your development, Izaya.]
