As far as that goes, I can only say that a piece cannot act out of character. [Witch of Love Humanity.] Isn't that so? So whatever has happened, it can't be beyond that frame.

Also, things like memes don't necessarily follow an entirely rational character progression, so wouldn't it be easy to slip out of character there?

But since the purpose of these is to explore a character, even if it's pushing the character to an extreme, it isn't out of character. In other words, because a piece that acts out of character cheats the logic of a story, a writer has no interest in such a thing. For that reason, those threads are not out of character.
