Sorry about you losing your job. If there's anyone who knows how much that sucks, it's me. And I won't give you that bullshit about it going to be okay because the truth is, you never know.

But I'll share one piece of advice. Don't bail on everyone and flee to the other side of the country. That only worked out for me because of Tobey. You try shit like that, you're going to be in even more trouble. Stand your ground and hopefully you'll land somewhere else.

And it's perfectly okay to take tonight and cry.

Oh, no. I'm so sorry to hear that happened. I really do hope everything turns out okay. I can't even imagine what that would be like to lose a job.

Right now it's just a lot of panicking. I can't blame her, I went home and cried half the night when I got let go from my last job.

Hmm... Mine says she lost a job twice and that the feeling doesn't really go away. [she perks up a bit] but there is always a chance you can find a better one, right? Even though - it might take a little bit. You can still get one.

That's what I'm saying. I wound up with a career that's better than I could ever dream.

But I also know that took a year of being at rock bottom and working really hard and going a little crazy. So I don't want to sweet-talk her into saying everything will be okay because it won't be.

But... [she trails off a bit] it will be. It's good to give people hope. Its sometimes all that someone could have.

Yeah, I know. At least I'm hoping it goes easier for her than it did for me.

I really do hope she finds something. Even if its something little, like part-time.

She says thank you for that. Though the good news is at least I know she won't go through what I went through - mostly because she's totally hopeless with cars.

I hope your's wasn't so bad. It does sound - complicated.

It was complicated. I threw a tantrum, fled to New York, didn't come back for a year.

A year? What did you do for a whole year?

I worked in a garage. Lived in it for a little bit, too.

A garage? You mean, like a mechanic?

It paid the bills and I made some good friends.

But no, it was never something I wanted to do.

Oh... But at least you learned something from it, and it did what you needed it to do, right? So it wasn't all bad.

It was what I had to do in order to get my job back and I have to say it all worked out.

Yeah, though I haven't talked to any of them in like a year. I should really fix that.

Thanks. I mean, I try, at least. Well, it sounded like there was a need for a little bit of optimism - so I thought it - couldn't hurt.

It's good. I wish I could have that kind of optimism. I mean not to say that I don't sometimes but not all of the time.

[she gives a nervous laugh] I'm not always so great at it. I just - well, it's never fun to see other people down in the dumps. So I always try to help if I can.

Sometimes it works, other times - hmm - not so much.

I'm guilty of being cynical from time to time. It comes with being very competitive. But I'm also guilty of being moody, so.

I know some people who can be like that. There isn't anything wrong with it, but - I still think a little positivity is deserved from time to time.

Usually I have to prove to myself something can be done and then I get excited about it.
