It would be good to see my friends and family again. I've missed them. I have to admit that meeting people from my future is tempting as well, though it might upset the general balance of things.

[A yelp of joy, the alien running up to Luke with a pen and paper in hand. Holding them up with an eager look of excitement.]

I am to be asking for your name written down, please?? My friend, she is a fan.

[Well this is... different.]

Oh, uh... sure, alright. [Luke reaches down to take the pen and paper from the rather unique-looking little alien. He's really not used to this kind of thing. What does he even write? May the Force be with you. Love, Luke Skywalker?

The thought almost made him laugh. So he just signed the paper, nothing more, nothing less.]

[Oh just watches with rapt attention, beaming smile from ear to ear. He takes the paper back almost reverently. Wouldn't Tip be surprised when he gave her this??]

[This time Luke does chuckle, nodding his head down at the friendly alien.]

[Mara has more or less resigned herself to an endless parade of awkward social interaction with familiar faces that don't actually recognize her. Especially the one she has the most complicated feelings for. Apparently someone around here finds it immensely amusing. It's definitely not her. In any case, it does get a little easier to deal with after a while.]

I'm gonna have to go with Solo on this one, Skywalker. If you're not afraid, then you have no idea what you're getting into. Or maybe you're one of those lucky people with a mun that doesn't have a sadistic sense of humor.

[Luke, however, does not look as confused as some of the other Luke's she's come across. He's surprised, sure, but not unpleasantly so - recognition is in his eyes, even if he's never actually met her. Not really. He even smiles a little as he listens to her.]

If you know me at all, then you should know fear is generally something I try to overcome.

And I think you know me pretty well, Mara Jade.





[OOC: I have read the original Thrawn trilogy by Timothy Zahn and I absolutely loved it, it's just been a long time! And I've read other books with her in it too like Vision of the Future, my knowledge is just a little rusty!]

[Her expression doesn't change much - a slight tilt of her head along with a thoughtful frown - but Luke can no doubt sense her sudden jolt of surprise at hearing him call her by name, followed by fleeting, vulnerable feelings of missing... something. It's quickly stifled by cautious curiosity and a little chagrin. She shouldn't have been caught so off-guard by that.]

Sometimes I think so. Then you go and do something completely crazy, and I can't imagine what was going through your mind. [She's teasing him a little. It's also fairly true.] But no, I can't imagine you ever letting fear get the better of you.

[She almost seems to brace herself as she studies his face, tentatively reaching out with the Force.]

((I love Timothy Zahn, and Thrawn was awesome. :3 I go by his books more than most others, but I'm not rabid or anything about any of it. x3 I'm just a casual EU nerd who also loves the new movie~))

[Luke does sense as much - he's not actually used to seeing into another person's thoughts like this, not someone who knows him so intimately. She is at once almost entirely interesting to him - strong and powerful in the Force, something else he is not used to feeling. From where Luke really comes from, he is basically the last of the Jedi. Though his sister is Force-sensitive, it's not quite the same.]

Apparently I can be a little impulsive for a Jedi. [His voice is wry, though - playful. Dry, almost.] I'm sure it's something I'll work on in the future. [Not likely. But at least he'll grow and mature into the wiser Jedi master he will one day become. Though it seems even then he will not be without faults, still making mistakes.

But that is not here and now, where it's just the two of them. He doesn't put up any walls or barriers, allows her to freely search his mind and thoughts. Unfortunately she will notice holes there, mostly information he has learned second-hand and heard about her. She's the first Mara Jade he has met here, after all. He hasn't experienced everything she probably has. His voice even sounds a little sad when he answers her question.]

Not as well as you know me, I'm afraid.

[Luke sounds like he regrets that, too.]

But I'm aware what you will become to me. [He chuckles, reaching up a hand to absently scratch the back of his neck.] Never thought I'd end up getting married.

[Maya eyes Luke sideways. Don't take it personally, Luke. She pretty much eyes everyone sideways.]

So. You're the Rebel everyone's making such a kriffing fuss over.

[Why? He doesn't even look old enough to shave. Not that Maya should really talk. But she's very good at being judgey.

And nosy.

She can't help it if she gently tries to probe his mind with her own. She's curious and untrained. A deadly combination.]

[Luke is becoming more and more used to being side-eyed, though that doesn't mean he's yet comfortable with the attention. Still, he's calm enough when she approaches him. He even smiles a little at her words.]

I suppose I am. I'm not sure I'm really worth all the fuss.

[...and that's when he realizes it, when he senses it in her. The realization probably shows on his face, but it's not a bad surprise. It's still a little new for him to meet others with Force abilities.]

You're Force sensitive.

[Her eyes narrow slightly. She's pretty much always suspicious. Occupational hazard. But the suspicion quickly turns to genuine confusion.]

I'm what now?

[And why can't she penetrate his mind the way she can with other people? She's never felt anything like this before.]

[Have a sister dearest.]

I'm touched.

[Aww. Luke can't help but grin a little.]

You're my twin sister, of course I missed you.

I'm sure you won't let it go to your head.

[Said with a smirk, of course.]

They seem to enjoy what we don't want the most.

I'd say they take pleasure in our discomfort.

[But he smiled dryly, not all that upset with his mundane yet. And while he has not actually met his mother before, not like this... he can sense who she is. Even if she is not Force-sensitive, his powers have grown. Realization shows on his face, his smile faltering. Luke wasn't ready for this.]

... Mother.

I know the other guys in this head wish I was less vocal. It's not my fault.

There are a lot of people to meet, though. Good people. And... troubling people.

But I know you. I know you'll pull through, no matter what. Maybe that's just wishful thinking, on my part, but... we still have to believe it, right?

You won't upset things by meeting people from the future here, since you can't take that knowledge back with you when you return to your universe, Master Luke. But in the words of a grey Jedi I met here, you can't be sure you want to know what you think you want to know when it comes to the future.

[Of course Luke doesn't know who this young man is, but there's something so familiar about him. He both sees it in his face, and senses it... but he hesitates from probing his mind even further.]

[Ben straightens up, feeling like he's under inspection. Thankfully Luke doesn't know him by sight - if anyone needs a chance to make a good impression, it's the former Kylo Ren. He chooses his words carefully.]

You do, yes. I was your padawan, but I... I'm sorry, Master. I fell to the lure of the Dark Side. I only recently returned to the Light. If I could have one thing from this place stay with you it would be that it was not your fault, and you did not fail me as a Master. You were an amazing teacher and a good shoulder to lean on. My failings are mine alone.

[Please don't blame yourself like his time's Luke did. Ben's heart can only take damning his uncle to a breakdown so many times. His eyes are sad and remorseful, and struggle to meet Luke's.]
