[ Jacen (Caedus? No, Jacen) frowns. Last time Anakin's ghost popped up to ask him stupid questions, it was just Vergere's doing -- wasn't it? But here he is again. Sigh. ]

Believe it or not, I'm moderately fond of you, Jacen. You being okay matters to me.

[ "Moderately fond"; he's teasing, a little bit. It's not like there was ever a time he didn't love Jacen, even when they were arguing about how the Force ought to be used. He'd loved his siblings from birth to death and beyond.

Even if sometimes they did dumb things. Or evil things. ]

[ A bitter laugh. He can't bring himself to believe his brother. After all, his parents disowned him; Jaina killed him. ... Not that he didn't deserve all that. But why should Anakin be any different? ]

Doesn't it? It doesn't have to matter to you, yet. We have all the time in the world. [ Now that they're both out of time. ] And as your little brother, I think I'm probably contractually obligated to bother you for most of it.

[ Which is to say he doesn't plan on leaving Jacen alone anytime soon, no matter how un-Jacen Jacen is. ]

[ This irritates Jacen in a way he hasn't been irritated for almost fifteen years. Not since he last shared a room with his little brother. ]

It doesn't matter to me. Like I said, Allana's okay -- I mean, as okay as she can be with our parents responsible for her. And Tenel Ka ... well, she'll be okay too, eventually.

I can rest now. ... Or I could, if you weren't here. [ That last part is not completely serious. There's about 5% of Jacen's old sense of humour in there. ]

[ Didn't Jacen miss this? Anakin sort of had. He'd mostly been a quiet child who everyone had thought was shy, up until he started speaking more often, but he remembers those days when his sister and brother were the ones he'd call his best friends. And after, why they were different but still close enough to know how to annoy one another best.

It's way too easy to slip back into the habit of poking at his brother, needling gently to bring back his irritating older brother.

He simply grins at the tiny victory. ]

C'mon, Jacen, you haven't seen me in ages - surely I'm more interesting than rest! And hey, I'm sure Allana will only be kidnapped a half dozen times instead of a thousand.

[ he loves his parents, really, but all three of the Solo kids have been kidnapped way too often for comfort. allana's probably screwed. ]

[ Jacen's still at a point where he despises his own childhood self. What an annoying little brat he was, with all those animals and questions. Kriff, who needs that in their lives?

But that child is still part of Jacen (and was part of Caedus), no matter how much he tried to deny it. At nine, he occasionally spoke for Anakin; at sixteen, he argued because Anakin spoke too much. Now--? Well, now he shakes his head, frowns, and pushes away the memories as far as they'll go. (It's not far.) ]

...you're being flippant, but you might be right. Mom and Dad might actually be better at preventing kidnappings than Hapans.

[ To be fair, the last time the Hapans let a royal heir get kidnapped, it was because Jacen was the kidnapper. But we digress. ]

[ Slight wince as he admits: ] Dad's the best pilot in the galaxy, no matter how much of a criminal he is. He could outfly most kidnappers.

[ He sighs, then considers the rest. ]
