... you probably won't believe this, but Sabo and I tried to kill him when he found our stash of treasure.

Well, Sabo and I always wanted to be pirates. So we stole money and stuff to get enough to buy a ship. But Luffy had been following me whenever I left Dadan's place to go meet Sabo and get money and shit. We didn't want anyone to know about our stash because then it'd probably get taken. So when Luffy overheard us and said he wanted to be a pirate, too... well... we tied him to a tree and said we had to kill him. [Isn't he the best big brother.]

[Arches an eyebrow.] And then--?

[Ace, you tried to murder his father over a hundred times. He's expecting a lot more from this story than tying Luffy to a tree.]

[He sighs. HE'S NOT PROUD OF WHAT HE DID, OKAY.] Well, Sabo and I stole money from pirates earlier, and they started looking for us. We untied Luffy and hid because they were looking for me and Sabo to get their money back. But... Luffy, that little idiot, ran out of the bushes and they caught him. And then he called my name, so Porchemy knew I was around and that Luffy knew me. He told Luffy to say where the treasure was, but he didn't. And since he's a shitty liar, they knew when he said "I don't know" that he was lying. They... basically took him to try and get information out of him. Sabo and I decided to hurry and move our treasure because we thought Luffy would squeal. When we were finished, Sabo came and told me... Luffy hadn't talked. And he was.. basically beaten all day long. We crashed into the place they were hiding, beat them up, and took Luffy back. We hid out in the forest and bandaged ourselves up, and I asked why Luffy didn't talk since he was going to die. He said if he did, I wouldn't be his friend. I told him at least he would be alive, and... he said "being lonely is worse than death." And... I asked him if he wanted me to live. He said yes. [He scuffs the ground with his shoe, looking down. It was a big moment for him, okay. ;o;]
