[WOAH. Suddenly a guy dressed in white appears. Who apparently is a criminal, yet is acting rather casual towards Conan. Dairine leans down to Conan's level.]
A friend of yours?
[However Kid's answer also brings up more questions.]
Is that so? How do the police and adult detectives feel about this? I'd be annoyed if a bunch of upstarts started stealing my work.
You've said the same to me too. People might think you don't want friends if you keep that up.
[Dairine glances between the two. A criminal who challenges detectives yet has worked with Conan before... there's only one person the short detective has mentioned who fits that description.]
[ At the sound of his name, KID's attention goes back to the young lady. ]
I am. [ He sweeps into a deep bow. ] Phantom Thief 1412, although most know me as Kaitou KID. [ As he straightens he flashes her a grin, glancing over at Conan. ] Have you been talking about me, Tantei-kun~?
[Her smirk gives him a few seconds warning before she drapes her arms on top of his head instead. Sorry, Conan. She's not going easy on you just because your nemesis is here.]
Eh, what was that? Did you say something?
[Ignoring any potential complaints, she focuses back on the conversation at hand.]
Dairine! [He makes another attempt at squirming out of her grip. But one of the problems with being three feet tall was that he didn't have many options at moments like this.]
And you! Don't talk about that like it was something we planned.
Ohh? [Dairine hums, deceptively casual, but her eyes narrow in suspicion. Suddenly she shifts her arms so she has Conan in a firm but not tight headlock.]
What's this about jumping out of a blimp, Conan? Getting into more life-threatening situations, have we?
[She glares at Kid as though trying decide if he should share the blame for this.]
I wish we had, probably would have spared Mouri-chan and the others that moment of panic.
[ Yes, Mouri Ran does make him nervous. That girl could be just as vicious as Aoko and didn't need a mop for it.
He raises his hands in surrender.
As much as he wants to tease and point out that he was the one jumping after the little detective, KID's not about to share every crazy thing that the kid has done. ]
[This was exactly why Conan had made a point of never telling Dairine the details of his more exciting adventures. He knew she would react like this. He aims a glare at Kid for bringing up the matter in the first place.]
And it happened a while ago, so there's no point to bringing it up now.
[Dairine isn't fully buying it, having a pretty good idea of the kinds of trouble Conan gets into on a regular basis. Though then again Conan did have the worst luck sometimes. She glares down at the detective.]
If it happened a while ago, you should have mentioned it before.
Do things that happened back then really matter now?
And it was just one of those unexpected accidents.
[If Conan had know that the leader would be willing to kill a kid.... Well he probably would have done the exact same thing. He just would have been a bit sneakier about it. ]
Of course I do. After three years chasing this punk, you'd hope I would know what he's like.
[And then to Conan:]
I'm not so sure about that. There's no way you could get in so much danger without at least a little planning on your part.
[Dairine arches her brows at him. Was that a challenge?]
Watch it, Conan, or I'll bother my Mun until she brings me to your new place. [She sighs.] Then again, you might prefer me over the others she's considering.

Who totally knows the answer to this question, Tantei-kun, don't worry. He's totally on it. ]
Too many.
[ He heaves a dramatic sigh. ]
I swear, I turn around and there's another one, just popping out of the woodwork.

[ He grins at the two of them. ]
Besides, we work so well together.

[Have the most deadpan of deadpan looks, Kid.]
I still plan on sending you to prison, you know.

[Dairine glances between the two. A criminal who challenges detectives yet has worked with Conan before... there's only one person the short detective has mentioned who fits that description.]
Are you Kid by any chance?

[By which he means that he insulted you. A lot. ]
no subject
[Dairine attempts to lean on Conan's shoulders.]
He's talked about you once. Mostly it was a lot of complaining. [She grins down at Conan.] He did say you were useful though.
no subject
Although, I suppose I could say the same for him. Heists wouldn't be nearly as entertaining or fun if he wasn't around to try and catch me.
no subject
And I don't go to heists for your entertainment.
no subject
Eh, what was that? Did you say something?
[Ignoring any potential complaints, she focuses back on the conversation at hand.]
So you two have teamed up a lot, huh.
no subject
He nods, grin becoming even bigger. ]
Plenty of times. We've flown jet planes together, even jumped off a blimp together.
... although, that last one wasn't nearly as fun as it should have been.
no subject
And you! Don't talk about that like it was something we planned.

Not so much, no. It was a bit... accidental?

And it happened a while ago, so there's no point to bringing it up now.

[ Because honestly, he hadn't even been expecting that guy to just open a window and toss a young child out of it. ]
no subject
And it was just one of those unexpected accidents.
[If Conan had know that the leader would be willing to kill a kid.... Well he probably would have done the exact same thing. He just would have been a bit sneakier about it. ]
no subject
[Assuming it really was an accident and they're not covering their backs. Dairine lets Conan go but still scowls at him.]
Of course it does! How am I supposed to know what kind of stunts to expect from you if you hide your past ones?
no subject
Wow, Tantei-kun, she's got you all figured out, doesn't she?
no subject
And it doesn't matter anyway, because we're not in the same place anymore.
[Conan turns and glares at Kid.]
And don't you start on this.
no subject
[And then to Conan:]
I'm not so sure about that. There's no way you could get in so much danger without at least a little planning on your part.

[KID would know, Conan's done it to him a couple of times, the little sneak.
He looks innocently at Conan.]
