on mun's renewed inspiration

Must I be subject to your nostalgic whims? We had our time together. We agreed we were done. I was happily retired from your roster.

You can't expect anyone else to indulge you in this. You said yourself, you've traded up to the latest model of "Whedon ice queen". Why bother calling in a General when you have the Cavalry?

[To be absolutely fair, it's the direction Agents of SHIELD is taking that's brought this on: the damaged genius and the memories rewritten.]

I'm the patron saint of loneliness. I make you uncomfortable. You don't miss me.

[That's what the woman was talking about.] ...What makes you think I'd be afraid of you?

[He's not afraid of Whitehall.]

Didn't suggest you were afraid. [He just said it'd be easier. More comfortable. But hey, now that Ward's brought it up...] If we share faces, I can't imagine he looks any scarier, but I guess someone who's a Nazi of eternal youth must be at least a little frightening.

[Their last meeting went well but he's pretty sure that Whitehall probably wants him killed.

HE can't do that. Not until Skye gets what he promised her.]

Not scared.

I don't imagine much scares you. You can't let it, in your line of work.

It's true.

But you know so much about me...and I know very little about you.
mr_dominic: (the definition thereof)

Rest assured that there is a file on everyone Miss DeWitt takes an interest in. One way or another.

There's one on me, too.

But since I can't show you that, what is it that former agent Ward would like to know about Laurence Dominic?

[personal profile] wolfintheherd 2014-12-04 05:27 am (UTC)(link)
[Former agent Ward. He crosses his arms over his chest studying the other man. Looking for visual cues. He's good at observations.]

...How long have you worked for Miss DeWitt?
mr_dominic: (Default)

[personal profile] mr_dominic 2014-12-04 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
[Maybe he should've said former Shield agent. But it seems to him that Ward is a bit of an agent of nothing. Dominic goes professional even though there's no need to, back straight and hands behind. He doesn't work for her anymore, but he's playing the part anyway. It's so easy to fall back into after:] Three years as her head of security.

[Isn't this interesting.]

Formerly.

What are your thoughts about her program?

[He can't fault a double (triple?) agent for how good he is. Been there and done that, after all, although the NSA isn't Hydra, not by a long shot.

And he didn't betray her. Not really.]

You want the real deal or the company line?
wolfintheherd: (Default)

[personal profile] wolfintheherd 2014-12-04 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
Why not both?

[He crosses his arms] c'mon.
mr_dominic: (worry)

[personal profile] mr_dominic 2014-12-04 04:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Her deal's good, and it's honest. You get to sleep, and when you wake up, you get to start anew, and it's a good deal for her because she gets to add you to the House and make a little more money off you and what you can do. She can make a few more fantasies come true. She could save a few more lives with you. There's always the risk that something might happen, but there are waivers to sign. Don't get her wrong, she can do good in the world with your body on the streets, but she's more businesswoman than philanthropist.

[That's a mix of the reality and the company. There's no reason for him to protect her, no reason to keep up the pretense, and if his words sabotage her efforts to get another Doll? It's no skin off of his damn nose. He could (should) throw her under the bus. But there are certain realities at play.]

The tech being used works, but it has the potential to go very, very wrong. And it'll be a catastrophe in the wrong hands. DeWitt's good people, for a loosely given definition of good.

Rossum's not.

If you can relax, then I'll take it. It'll only be for a year. [Rossum though. He'll file that away]
mr_dominic: (insert smartass remark here)

[personal profile] mr_dominic 2014-12-04 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Relax. [His smirk is tired but wolfish.] That's funny.

What would you do with a new lease on life?
