Is that even possible? All I hear around these parts is a whole lot of complaining about where they're going and ought not to be.

Oh, we all gripe about the Mundanes' handling of us. [He smiles and his eyes twinkle.] But often we come out of the other end of whatever insane thing they are putting us through either better in some way, or having enjoyed the ride after all. [His gaze gets a bit shifty. He was just bitching about his own situation earlier, after all.]

Lookin' at her history of draggin' people through games, I doubt I'd come out of it better or enjoy it all that much.

Then again I have spent the last year in a game aimed at "redeeming" me. Though most of my redemption has to do with "getting along with other races" so I suppose that is ultimately useful. It's still driven me quite mad at times.

I am rather old as vampires go, and the first of my line. And my reputation is appropriately bad. I was selfish and cruel on a homicidal scale even back when I was human. A being of my power...existing without empathy or consideration for others made me a hazard to everyone around me. [His voice is quiet and very serious.]

It is not an existence I want anymore.

No, it never is. It is like going through a second puberty, but deadlier and more dramatic. Even we old ones will look back at our early nights and just shake our heads. It's why the bulk of us get so hovery and overprotective about our new childen.
