Season 2 Finale - first time writing Kenny.

 [ Kenny buries his face in his hands. He'd just left Clementine at Wellington. He already missed her. ]

I had to.. I had to walk before I turned back around for her.  Lee would'a wanted this, you think? It must'a been so hard for him to accept when he had to say goodbye.

And, well... I fucked up so bad back at the gas station... whether Jane riled me up or not. [ He fights to keep his voice level ] Clem and AJ will be safest there.

"..Clementine?" He swears his mind was playing tricks on him. Slowly, the man lifts his head up, his eye watering slightly. "I thought.. thought ya went into Wellington with AJ. W-why'd you come back?" His voice wavers despite his attempts to keep it normal.

"W.. what do you mean?" Yeah, she's from an earlier point, but in -her- timeline she had to put you down like Old Yeller, Kenny (sob). "I... I didn't come back, it's.. this place. We.. we never made it to Wellington."

His eyebrows lift when she tells him that. "What? I-I don't understand... This place?" He blinks a little. "Th' hell happened then?"

"I don't know either. It's ...not heaven, but it's like a place away from home, where you can see a lot of other people. The person looking after me - the mundane - she has me away from home too. But there's no Walkers. It's like it was before everything went bad. " And there are superpowers. But she still isn't coping quite as well.

Kenny relieves some tension in him by letting out a sigh, and his voice becomes a bit more stable after he stays silent for a few seconds. "Heh... I can't imagine it, sounds too good to be true. Might as well be heaven." He looks to the ground for a moment, a slight frown on his face.

"...A mundane? That what ya call it? Mine seems to be keeping stuff from me, and it's botherin' me. She's, uh, been rather sappy about somethin'."

I was so hoping for a happy ending for him but it was kinda leading up to it :(

Clementine was silent for a few minutes herself. Her mun had let it slip what happens in her timeline, and she... didn't want to say. "... maybe it's nothing." Women are sappy, right? Sappy and weird. Especially when they were hiding stuff.

Hey how about a change of subject! YAH. That'll keep him from asking uncomfortable questions! "You could come where I am...? You get super powers and stuff.. and bad stuff happens, but it's not Walkers." Walkers are the absolute WORST. .. uh, up there with cannibalism, thieving, murder... etc etc.

/sweeps it under the rug. omg.

He scratches at his head for a moment, questioning Clem's dismissal of it but doesn't say anything. "..Yeah, guess it could be."

"Hmm.. Super powers? Like some fictional superheroes used to have in comics?" Duck used to have some of those, he remembers. He tries not to dwell on that too long, though. "..Well, uh. Shit, I dunno. Is the 'bad stuff' as bad as walkers?"

*pushes the bookcase on top of the rug. Now it may never be spoken of again :D*

Phew, he didn't question it. Hopefully it won't come up again.

"Um... yeah, I guess so." Duck told her about some of those comic book superheroes, but she'd honestly not even thought of most of those conversations in light of everyone she loved dying around her and all.

"Well, it's been nice so far.. I've been there about a month. But I was told before that, that some people who went to a camp or something, got kidnapped, and some of them died." It was like Carver's compound all over again. Thank god she missed it.

I tried to play someone in a game maybe two years ago. enjoyed it but people seemed too cliquey :/

He tilts his head slightly. "Ya think maybe I could get my useless eye fixed there?" It's kind of said in a joking manner, but if he could, that would be great too.

"Jesus. Well, guess it could still better than being surrounded by walking corpses..."

Oof, yeah that'd do it. D: MoM where I am seems really welcome so far though!

"Maybe..? There are doctors there - Real Doctors, with hospitals and stuff," Carlos did a good job for not having access to a lot of stuff, really. "Maybe there's someone who has a .. healing power too." Although she was leery of asking people for favors there.

"Yeah. It's strange getting used to the way things were again. Having electricity, and food."

"it's not like I'll die" I hate myself for writing that

"Yeah, maybe. Though it's not like I'll die without it or anythin'." Kenny lets out a chuckle. "I've gotten pretty used to not havin' it."

"I can't imagine actually having regular meals again. Havin' people around. Fuck, it must be.. really nice there." He says this longingly.

"Don't say that..!" Clementine blurted awkwardly, at that phrase. Maybe it was relating to what Kenny's mun was hiding from him, or maybe it was because she was sensitive to the subject and didn't take it jokingly. She's silent for an awkward moment, fidgeting. "Then you should come too..." Where he won't have to be -Dead-. Sneef.

Things totally won't be super awkward there considering she comes from just after rescuing Luke and Sarah.

Kenny's taken aback by Clem's sudden words, jumping slightly. He looks worriedly at her. "Jesus, Clem, 'm sorry. Didn't mean anythin' by it."

"I'd like to. We'll just have to see, I guess. Mun's just worried she'll fall out of it again."

"Sorry," Clementine glanced away again, "I know you didn't.. it's just..." You're the closest to her after Lee, Kenny! You're not allowed to die. (Yeah she thought that about Lee and see how well THAT worked?)

"Okay. But it'd be nice to have someone else from back home there too." Everyone thinks she can't take care of herself because she's a kid. She's living in an apartment alone, she has canned soups, cereals and everything. Just wait till she starts setting up traps in the place too!

He's a little confused.

He shakes his head slightly. "Hell, forget I said that." He kneels down to her level, putting a hand on her shoulder, smiling.

"I wouldn't leave ya without anyone familiar if it were up ta me. I'd be there in a heartbeat, Clem. Jus'... Can't promise it, exactly." That's not how the world works. He can't even promise her he'll be alive.

Clementine smiled slightly at the gesture from the totally not crazy and rabid Floridian that doesn't hate her for killing Sarita. Right? Right?

"I know. It's up to your mun." SIgggh, what is life. But she's made do without the important people before. "I'll be okay." Lee and Jane taught her to survive on her own. JUST.. DO NOT SHOW UP AS A Walker KENNY.

"I believe ya. Yer tough." He tilts his head. He squeezes her shoulder slightly. "..Are ya sure there isn't anything that's bothering you? Ya seemed really tense a minute ago. You can tell me."

"... I'm sure." Don't make her tell you Kenny, you reeeeeeeeally don't wanna know. Really. She refuses to do it, you can't make her!

"Clem..." He sighs. "I was a father, ya know. I became real good at tellin' when a kid's lyin' to me."

Clementine fidgeted in place, glancing away. She can't even look at him now. ".. it's nothing." MOAR LIEEEEEEEEES.

Kenny would be lying if he said that didn't make him want to know more. Though the fact that she couldn't look at him.. really bothered him. He exhales, continuing to look at her. "... God damnit." He takes his hand off her shoulder. His gaze shifted elsewhere, a frown reappearing on his face.

"Fer all I know yer scared'a me... Is that it? I mean, back there you had a way to..." He trails off. She had a gun. If she really felt like he was a threat to her safety...

Nooooo. No no no. Noooooooo putting two and two together. She winced slightly at the curse, but him suggesting she was afraid of him..? Well... to be fair his temper WAS pretty scary. "No..! But..." She paused. "You're... still mad at me, aren't you... about Sarita..?"

He was about to say something when Clem brings up Sarita. His mouth was open to speak, but he slowly closes it as his eye widens, and a pain hits him in his heart. He grits his teeth, trying to focus on willing away the tears that he knew were coming. Usually when he grit his teeth though, it meant he was angry about something.

"Sarita..." His fists clench shut so tight his knuckles whiten, his shoulders tightening. "Don't! Please, just don't mention.." His voice raises. He exhales again, his breathing seeming labored. "Clem, jus'-- damn it--!"

Yep, still mad. She tensed slightly, almost expecting another outbirst, even taking a small, nervous step back. ".. I'm sorry."

Sorry for bringing it up and sorry for what she had to do.

"It's jus'-- damn it!" He feels his nails digging into his own hands and grunts. "It's just not fair.." He looks back to Clem through his watery eye and feels horrible. She'd moved away expecting him to lash out at her. He puffs out another breath, still shaking. "Fuck... No, damn it, it's not you-- It's jus', this whole world is fucked!"

He wipes his sleeve across his face, trying to clear his vision. "Every time I get somethin' to live for... It gets taken away. By the walkers or my own fuck-ups."

Yeah it was true. But he wasn't the only one who lost loved ones - not that this was a competition. As far as she knew, there were so few people left from their original group. Still it's a sentiment she understood - she felt the same way sometimes. Everytime she got close to someone, they died.

"We still have each other.." Even if you scare the shit out of her sometimes. She's known you the longest.

"Yeah, but am I worth havin' at this point? 'm broken! Jane knew that, I killed 'er, what if it was--!" His skin paled a bit. He couldn't imagine turning on Clem, but he seemed to be doing everything else wrong. The thought chilled him to the bone. "Jesus.. I-I don't feel good."

He ...killed Jane? Now -that- thought makes her sick to her stomach - she'd liked Jane, thought of her as an older sister. And she was their friend- what could possibly have made him do that?

"..." Oh man. What does she even say? It's not like she's never seen him like that before. "Kenny.."

"She.. she pushed me to.. Sh-she made it seem like she killed AJ!" His voice is very high-pitched by this point, he sounded hysterical. He thinks Clem is disgusted with him and he shouldn't be surprised, but he's panicking. He didn't want her to hate him.

He raises his hands up in front of him, "Jus'- jus'- you believe me, right? We-we heard him after it happened, b-but sh-she knew she could've stopped it by jus' spillin' it! Hell, she stabbed me in the stomach earlier on, I thought she was gonna kill me!"

"I.. I don't understand..." Well, not only that, but she didn't like how hysterical he was getting. "Why--" Ah the glory of timelines. "Jane.. wouldn't do something like that.." She didn't hate him, no way. She was worried for him though. She didn't know how to help him, and it frightened her when he got angry and hysterical.

"Sh-she did, I swear on it, I wouldn't--" He gasps, clutching his head in his hands. "F-fuck... I-I know... it sounds real bad.. Earlier on she was using Sarita's death against me, sayin' I let her die. She wanted me to get angry..."

"But... i.. it was an accident.. right?" Killing Jane? Not that she hasn't seen them kill people before but still. Things were supposed to be different. How is teamwork supposed to..well.. work if everyone is at each other's throats? "Why would she do that..?" It didn't make sense - but Kenny wouldn't lie either.

Kenny froze when he heard her asking if it was an accident. A knife had been positioned above her chest. That didn't seem like an accident, and he felt horrible because he knew he wouldn't be able to lie to her convincingly about it. Instead, the man gazed at the ground with a look of guilt on his face. He hated his actions.

No answer was just as much of an answer as giving her one. It was no accident. Kenny dies, Jane dies and Clem was literally left holding the baby.

"...this sucks."

"I-I know, Clem. I'm so sorry. But at least I ... at Wellington, you'd be safe. Safer than staying with me..."

"But I'd be alone." With a bunch of strangers. Again.

It's true and he hated that. He breathes out a sigh, looking tired. He shakes his head and closes his eye. "Hell.." He doesn't know what to say to that, so he sits there and looks guilty.
