[Before she answered, Elsa began to focus her ears a bit more. Listening for anything different.]

Well it's not beating anymore anyway. Still if you put a stake through it I've heard it causes paralysis.

I understand if you're worried about the large groups that have probably cropped up in your city, but individuals are pretty decent. I'm not going to do anything I didn't find socially acceptable when I was human not too long ago.

At best though that means you would avoid anyone who has ever sired one of our kind. Otherwise I think having someone who understands and can actually help would be a good idea.

Well everyone I know CAN it's more a matter of if they would. There's a lot of reasons for sireing but I don't think I would ever make anyone undead. Even though I know I don't have to be the one to stop their life to give them a new one I don't think I would thrust this on anyone.

[Riley didn't have a completely sour view of vampires as a whole. They were a lot like any other human. At least at first. They made mistakes and could even be kind.]

If only the one I had met held the same view.

[Technically Riley was only the second one that she's met this far. So Elsa has no clue what to expect.]

Yeah not everyone does. If you want to avoid those vampires that's fine, but I think you would be hurting yourself if you didn't accept a kinder one as someone to give you a little advice now and then.

You're welcome to make your own decision on it still, but I thought you should know at the very least my stance on it and the fact that we're not all cruel.

Well then give me a chance at the very least. I'm just as new to this as you are so if I step out of line somehow you could stop me. Though I don't intend to if that's the fact you need to be at ease then there you go.

Though I suppose I could bring up the fact that you're not some incredibly cruel monster and you're among the undead now. It doesn't change who you are. Your experiences might change you over time, but we don't all come out ready to hurt people.

Yet what happens when you...lose control? I have...already come close to hurting someone I love dearly. I don't wish for it to happen again.

Well that's why you feed on blood. So that doesn't happen. There's a lot of ways to get it without really hurting anyone. A lot of vampires use seduction. They go home with someone and then feed on them. It feels good and they don't remember anything the next day. They just assume they had a wild night of fun.

If that's not your cup of tea then you can always find a person in the know about us and ask them. Plenty of vampires have contacts who agree to be fed on. Either out of loyalty or for favors in return.

If your loved one is understanding you could even feed on them. If you only take a little at a time they'll just need to lay down after.

[The first one was obviously out of the question. She is still a Queen. Going out in the night to seduce someone is not exactly going to work out in the end. Unless she was really starving and needed to desperately feed.]

Those are excellent suggestion. But it still feels wrong.

Maybe it will always leave a bad taste in your mouth, but it's something you have to do. If you don't want to go into blood lust one way or another you'll have to feed on a regular basis.

Honestly knowing how good it feels and safe it is if I was human I'd offer myself up, but obviously I'm no help to you in that regard.

I meant more a metaphorical bad taste. Since you still don't seem to like the idea of drinking.

Yeah it feels good for everyone involved really. With a few exceptions on some strange strands of vampirism when we bite into someone's neck it feels amazing for them too.

But doesn't that feel, strange to you?

[Wrong even. Before it all started, she disliked the taste of blood immensely. She didn't like the sight of it, or the smell. Now, now Elsa just can't seem to get enough.]

It's a little weird knowing I suddenly like blood so much, but knowing the why of it makes it easier I guess. We don't drink blood because we like it. We like it because we have to drink blood. For whatever reason our body requires it after we become undead so to keep us alive we're also very fond of the taste and anything else associated with it.

It's why sweet things taste good to humans. Back in our primitive age the only sweet things were fruits. Biology didn't know we would invent chocolate.

That is one to look at it. Though it does not do much to ease the discomfort I feel towards the action. It certainly is a more pleasant way of thinking.

Maybe you'll feel better about it in time.

In the mean time though we can at least try to find you a constant companion you can feed on. Short of that maybe try and find a blood bank in your city.

I...what's a blood bank?

Oh wow maybe they don't have it in your time.

Uh at least for modern medicine in my world we have places where people can donate blood. It's supposed to be to help people who have lost too much blood to surprise otherwise. They use the collected blood and put it into the other person's veins to give them enough blood back to survive.

That's a simplistic explanation, but that's the short of it.

That does sound quite an incredible feet. [And quite a simple idea.]

But I'm afraid that my people do not have access to such things.

Well I guess things will be a little harder. Honestly maybe you should look into the vampires in your city and see if you can hire a human who already knows and is willing to help you with your problem for pay or just room and board.

I mean even if you don't trust your kind all you'll be doing is helping a human get away from them and into your home instead.

It's not as easy as you make it sound for me.

I know it's intimidating, but you can do it. Or do you mean that sneaking out to find out where all the vampires are won't work out?

In that case maybe telling Anna what's going on and asking for her help may be your best option.

It's not that...I'm supposed to be their queen. I don't believe it would be a good idea to be so open about...about being undead.

Anna already knows, either way. But I don't wish to feed on her. I just couldn't do that.

Oh well I'm not suggesting you be open about it. Be covert. Walk around the people at night and listen for someone without a beating heart. Then talk to them privately.

Well she might not be the one you feed on, but maybe she can help you find someone. I've got a feeling she might be the more outgoing one between you.

I-I don't know. That seems far to risky to me. This is not something that I could trust with just anybody.

I don't wish for her to get involved in this, at all. [Though Anna herself would probably insist on being involved.]

As much as it stinks. She's going to have to be involved eventually.

You're going to be around for a long time. Long enough that even if you do find a good source of blood people are going to ask questions. That means Anna is going to be involved somehow.

Either in revealing your true nature or faking your own death and allowing her to take the throne in your stead.

I will not let her be involved in such a way.

Alright. Just take care of yourself. For her sake too. You seem smart so I imagine you'll figure out some way to feed that isn't too unpleasant for you.

I...shall do my best. There is always another means to perform an action. I don't know what, or how, to accomplish it as of yet though. And hopefully I will figure it out before I need to drink again.

In the mean time while you're in this nexus no one will care you're a vampire. There's far stranger things around. You could find someone willing and no one in your kingdom will know.
