...what the hell are you doing? You don't have time for this - I don't have time for this. And you don't even know me! You don't know what I can do, what I'm capable of - you're just like Charles, wanting to have control!
How--
How do I know I can trust you?
How--
How do I know I can trust you?

[Small world.]
No, none at all. Why would you even think that?
no subject
Oh, y'know. The mention of control doesn't bring up the thought or anything.
no subject
I don't like being told what I have to do.
no subject
And I'm not tryin' to do any of that. Just.. y'know. Wanted to remind you that Charles had good intentions. That's all.

[He offered out a hand.]
You can call me Lava. I've not met anyone quite like you before, but my guess is you have never met anyone quite like me.
[A bold statement for someone human-passing, but he sounded certain.]
May I know what you would like to be called?

[She eyes his hand somewhat warily; most people are scared by blue women with yellow eyes. But he's being polite, and she does have manners.
Raven reaches out and shakes his hand, firmly.]
…Mystique, I guess.
And the worst is kind of what I'm afraid of. I don't know her, I don't know what she's going to do or even if she intends to do them. It's kind of annoying.
Happens to everyone xD
[He's completely at ease with her. He didn't even seem to have the morbid curiosity in his eyes that some humans would have who had good intentions.]
Well I suppose it depends on if you ever met a non-human before, and I mean that as in not being born to humans.
For the most part all mundanes can do is drop us into particular situations. With an odd exception here or there we have full control of how we react.
Too kind!
Wait… non-human? Then what are you?
[Her curiosity isn't morbid, though it's serious.]

Our senses are more fine-tuned than humans along with a few other differences specific to our survival. It was how I could tell right away you were human.
[He talked about this easily. Even if he wasn't really judging her based off her appearances Mystique seemed like someone who would take the information well.]

Mine really doesn't get what I can do, either, even if she gets the theories and some of the science, and... it's working out okay, but we're going slowly. Maybe take it step by step? It's just a thought. [He bites back any comments on her appearance because if he blurts out her eyes are pretty she'll disregard his advice entirely. Gah. What are social skills?]
no subject
[But since that is, apparently, the standard response, she focuses on the other things he's said.]
Why, what can you do?
[Best not. The last person who told her she was pretty like this tried to kill her.]
no subject
It's... she calls it aerokinesis. Takes out the science from it and when you do that you ignore the ways it can go catastrophically wrong. It's manipulation of the air, basically. And if that sounds benign, please picture a hurricane for a moment.

[Her eyebrows - or the scales where they'd be were she in human form - lift.]
Huh. I used to know a guy who could do that. Just pull energy out of the air and build baby tornadoes in his hands.

Uh...]
So this isn't awkward or anything.

You're looking well.

[A beat.]
So two different people have told me that different universes and futures exist, and since your hair is completely not how I remember it, maybe you could tell me what year it is.
no subject
I wish I could Raven but...I'm afraid my mun is far behind in that regard. So I am stuck in and out of the wheelchair at the beginning of my own story.
[Sometimes the WAY beginning, because he's too adorable as a kid not to.]

[So hey, blue guy with a tail and a German accent here. Hi?]
no subject
Like, a small few. But you're blue! And you have a tail! That is so completely awesome! Hi!
no subject
Ja, I was born like this. The markings are my own.
[Standing up taller, obviously proud, he introduced himself.]
I am Kurt Wagner, but in the Munich circus, I was known as the Incredible Nightcrawler!
no subject
I was born blue, too! At least, I think I was. I don't know for sure...
[Circus doesn't sit well with her, because the word is often followed by 'freak', but he seems proud of it..? So. Still grinning.]
But anyway, it's nice to meet you, Kurt. I'm... Raven. Or Mystique. Both are right, I guess. So you were in the circus? Was it fun?
no subject
Ja, people came many miles to see me. The circus was like... my family. They were kind to me.
[But times had changed since then, and his smile faltered only a little.]
I have met you, you know. A different you, from the... the future.
