[Esmeralda grins a little, though she makes no move to get closer to the stranger. It might be a trick after all.]

Word of advice, that generally doesn't work with Mundanes. You could be falling through a mirror into a new world, and they'd still pull you to go play their games.

Whoa, hey, slow down. [He raises his hands in the air and waves them a bit, as if to fan out a little bit of Esmeralda's fiery passion. Not that he'd want to, mind you, but he knows once she puts her mind to something, no one can dissuade her.] If it makes you feel any better, time just kind of... stops while we're here. Weird... but true! Paris will still be there when you get back, I promise.

Time... stops? Well, I've never heard of that trick before. What do you know of games? Do you play them?

It's..hard to explain.

Say your mun takes you some place, if by some chance you're lucky and she sends you back to your world, it'll be as though you've never left.

I know most of them are like the military-long periods of boredom followed by short, random spurts of all hell breaking loose.

And I wouldn't say 'playing' so much as participating. Calling them games gives the impression that you're allowed to quit or start over. What the mun really means is sending you to a world where either A: it's a chance to start over or B: it's a means of survival against some greater threat. If it's the latter, this makes it even more 'fun' when you have people that would rather stab themselves in the eye than cooperate.

It's no court of miracles. In fact this is where worlds collide. God, men and other things walking around and fraternizing.

I suppose it helps that for us time is stopped. Certainly an improvement to know our worlds will be there just as they were when we get back. I would dread to think what the world would do without me.

Gods and men all together. Now that I don't believe. I have been told so often that God is only for some men - I cannot imagine such a creature to deign to walk with the likes of me. The church leaders would choke on their communion wine if they thought such a thing!

What IS that thing? [She's never seen a reindeer before, but she laughs as he sniffles into her hand, and she strokes his nose.]
