on rereading book 32
I can't believe you made me relive that garbage.
That is one of the most mortifying experiences I've gone through.
You should have just skipped to the next one, like you wanted to.
...
On second thought, go ahead and skip the next one too.

...and apparently you're giving my mun a heavy dose of nostalgia.
no subject
Good nostalgia, hopefully. My mun's been a ridiculous mess over rereading these books.
Her childhood
Lady, it's my life.

I think I could like this world.
no subject
[The main reason he was willing to tell her about it was because he already knew she was a shape-shifter, so figured it wouldn't matter.]
no subject
Portland, huh? Who'd have thought?
I know all about secrets though. My whole life is a secret after all. My name is Rachel. No last name. I can't tell you where I live. Blah, blah, blah.
no subject
[Sure, if he dropped the charade entirely, any Grimm other than Nick as well as wesen who don't want their kind outed would be lining up for his head, but it wasn't like he had to fear for his life on a regular basis.]
no subject
Though I guess you don't have an alien race trying to enslave humanity, huh?

[Someone mentions most mortifying and she's all ears...
But then, literally 4 second later, she realizes that if it was mortifying... she probably shouldn't be asking a stranger to retell it.]
A-actually... wait. Unless it's really bad. Then you probably sh-shouldn't think about it, actually.
no subject
It's just really dumb, and kinda embarrassing.
Way long story short, I got split into two extreme halves of my personality. Crazy, violent, psycho nut. And wimpy, valley-girl, cry baby.
Sort of forces a person to look at ones self, you know?
no subject
Wicked...
[But she understands your pain. She sort of experienced a watered down version of that? A wayyy watered down version. Okay, maybe she couldn't understand your pain.]
I guess, if those are supposed to be your two halves...
Buuut, at least you got put back together, right?
no subject
There was more to it than personality, but it all worked out in the end. And then I wanted to just move on and forget it every happened, but some people can't leave a girl alone.
no subject
Sounds like a rollercoaster. Magic's always ruining lives... haha.
Not when it's intentional, obviously... but once, accidentally made a mistake on a potion-- was a hamster for an entire month.
no subject
I've been a rat, and a shrew, and I'd rather avoid being them again if I have the chance.
no subject
[Oh mannnnn. Her expression suddenly turned excited. A magic user maybe? Shapeshifters were a type of witch, right? Sort of?]
Oh man! Can you get anymore hardcore!?
I mean-- yeah, rats and shrews aren't really that cool, but... jeez!
Have you been anything else?
no subject
Oh sure. I've been plenty of different things. My favorite is a grizzly bear. [And the grin she wears is wicked.]
AU Jake's mun here... I'm terrible to even consider this! ^^;;
[A very large and disturbing looking creature would be levitating above the ground, its glowing rune for a head facing you as there are whispers seeming to be coming from it. Unsettling feminine whispers are coming from the Xel'lotath Black Guardian as it seems to be looking right through her.]
Rachel. Rachel Berenson... Animorph.
oh god...
That thing, whatever the heck it is, knows her name, it knows the word Animorph, and it doesn't look friendly.]
Jake's fought some of the smaller ones in Xelly's nasty creature variety.
The Black Guardian, however, is not hasty to do anything such as project a green stream of lightning that not only would hurt, but cause either fear or uneasiness. Or perhaps both.
Instead, it whispers more, its words cryptic.]
Elephant. Grizzly. Bald eagle. Dolphin.
So many forms. So little time... Yes, someone familiar, Rachel reminds us of.
no subject
God, do I even want to know?
no subject
Maybe you would want. Maybe you would not.
Should I tell anyway...?
[Xel'lotath loves to play her wicked, wicked games. Black Guardian isn't all that different from her maker. After all, they are psychically connected. What Black Guardian sees, Xel'lotath could also see, if she's tuning in that is.
The creature decides to chide on.]
Would Rachel worry? Would she get mad? Morph and try to do harm? [Eerily, it can snicker like the sinister sound is coming from everywhere at once.]
no subject
Rachel, my very faovrite Animorph
Even the memory of it's mocking tone makes her stomach turn.
But this isn't the Drode, it's something else. Something else entirely and she doesn't like it.
One of Crayak's creatures, I presume. You bet I'll get mad.
[She got the grizzly pictured in her mind, but she doesn't start morphing, not yet.]
no subject
Oh, Xena. Warrior Rachel. Our creator isn't the owner of an immense red eye. Her eye is actually green...
[Once more, it speaks like it's looking through her.]
Changing forms. Clawing. Biting. Try you might, but your attacks will not harm me.
no subject
Look, obviously you know everything there is to know about me. So instead of showing off your knowledge about me, why don't you tell me about yourself!?
no subject
What would you like to know? How much would you like to know?
Will that mind of yours stay protected...from madness?
[Yep, Black Guardian's taunting Rachel. Enticing her to try and do something.]
This would be much nicer one AU Jake knows.
[For some reason, this girl's not on about discovering the biggest zit on her face. Mari wouldn't know why beyond the general feeling of having a hunch...]
My mun for some reason thinks it would be a good idea for me to talk to you. That must mean she knows you. [Fine. Sure. She'll learn on her own who this is, and will pass on putting up with her Mun being coy and annoying about it.]
Well hello there~
But definitely mortifying. Getting split into two personality extremes is never really my idea of fun. I don't like to think I'm either one of those things, but I guess I'm both?
Hiii. :)
And it gets worse? Geez, that kinda comes close to how my life's been. [Well damn, it's no wonder...]

We should start a club. Crazy Lives Anonymous. We can trade stories about all the insane shenanigans we managed to live through. [If you manage to live through them.]
no subject
[Oh she managed to survive through it all, with sanity still in tact thanks to those friends that are also family for her. There were a few near-death experiences. That first one being the most memorable, and suckiest.]
[She pauses a second.] And I remember they've all been through crazy stuff way before I met them.
no subject
Otherwise I was just your normal mall rat, with the tree-hugging best friend, and the athletic cousin with the annoying best friend. And the weird tag-along.
Typical middle school stuff.
Crazy and Complicated Anonymous, is for sure. [She's more or less dating a boy trapped as a red-tailed hawk after all. It doesn't get much more complicated than that.]
no subject
[Something about what she's saying makes Mari feel like this is familiar, but she can't quite wrap her mind around it.]
I think nine years ago was when my life changed forever. Before that, I had an almost perfect life. Simple. Normal. Peaceful. Nothing dangerous.
[A second long pause as there's a little sad smile.] That must have been rough, when your parents got divorced. But they're okay though, right? [Both of hers have passed away. Hurts so much to even think about them.]
no subject
It's everything else. Thinking about the divorce is just another complication in her life, and it seems so trivial compared to the rest of it. The invasion, the fight, her friends.]
My life probably got weird around a year ago or so. Hard to keep track. [It's said with a shrug, but that's a lie. It's plenty easy to keep track. It's not like she forgot when Elfangor landed, and her life changed forever.]. Alien invasion and all. Crazy stuff.
BTW, you're welcome to bring Rachel to the crazy fun times goin' on at my musebox. Anytime! :D
Something just clicked, as Mari looks at her, double-taking in her head. But she'd better ask something to know to be absolutely certain this is who she really thinks this is...]
That's good, that you still have your family, while goin' though this.
Are these aliens parasitic?
