"I see you nothing else," Bruce says, "the beautiful charming woman who can kick ass in a heartbeat. And I love you so much sometimes it takes my breath away."

"You love me?" Natasha all but whispered, as she clutched the front of his shirt.

"God Bruce, You cannot say things like that, and then not expect me to jump your bones okay?"

"I do," Bruce admitted, "I wasn't going to say anything...but I think I've been in love with you since after the Battle of New York when you found me a pair of pants that actually fit without my having to ask."

Natasha just stared at him, not saying anything for a long moment, before the corners of her mouth started to turn up. "You fell in love with me over a pair of pants?"

"Wow, you are really easy to please."

Natasha looked down. "I want to love you Bruce, but I don't know that I know how. Will you teach me?"

"I....I'll try," Bruce says, "love isn't something you can really learn it just is Nat. You feel something for someone or you don't."

"Not for me," She said softly, curling in on herself a little bit. She wrapped her arms around her stomach, and turned away from him for a moment. "I was conditioned to believe that love was a useless emotion. HYDRA did that. It's hard to unthink that, but I want to okay?" She said softly.

He stands behind her his hand reaching out to rest against her shoulder. "So I have yet another thing to hate HYDRA or," he says, "I'm in this for the long haul Nat...if I have to tell you every day how much I care about you I will. I swear."

She shook her head softly, shaking the ghosts away, but she reached up and covered his hand with her own. She could almost feel the connection between them.

"What if its too late for me?" She asked softly, turning in his arms. "Why would you want to?"

"It's never too late for anyone to learn anything," Bruce said, "look at the Avengers as a group, what Loki thought to pull apart we found a way to make stronger. We've survived aliens, watched a dear friend die for what he believed in, fought HYDRA pulling apart the one group of people we trusted besides us and we're still here...still fighting. Sure we're tired, sure we're trying to save the whole world and it's hard, but we still have each other and that matters."

Natasha leaned up, and kissed his cheek. "When did you get to be so wise?" She asked.

"You will always have me no matter what. You know that right?"

"I've always been smart but after I met you things just made sense and I'm never letting go of that ever," Bruce says softly.

"Getting sappy in your old age Doc?" She asked, clearly teasing him. "You need to know that I feel the same way okay?"

"Sappy no, honest yes," Bruce teases back, "I know Nat...I know and I'm so grateful you do."

"I wouldn't have you any other way," She whispers hugging him.

"Now what do you say we finish this, and then you can buy me pizza?"

Bruce's stomach growled making it clear it liked the pizza idea. "I'm not going to say no to any of that," he said with a smile.

"What is with you boys and your appetites?" She teased, pushing him slightly towards the door.

"Your sure this mission is necessary?" She asked.

"Hey I'm not as bad as Steve, he eats twice what I do on a normal day," Bruce replies, "I just end up sleeping a lot."

"Whatever helps you sleep at night Doc," She said with a grin. "Can we get this done, so I can finally do something that I want for a change?"

He grins. "Gonna tell me what you want to do or is it a surprise." he teases lightly.

"I can't give away all my secrets now can I Doc?" Natasha says with a saucy grin. "What I like to do involves a fire pit, a grocery store, and a good bottle of wine."

"Interested?"

"I do believe I am," Bruce says smiling, "would there be marshmallows at the end of this?"

"You bet your Ass Doc," She turned, leaning to kiss him. "Have you ever had marshmallow kisses?"

"No actually I can't remember if I have or not," Bruce says softly, "sounds sticky."

"It is," She responded softly. "Unless you know how to do it, which I do." She fell silent for a moment.

"My mom actually taught me."

This was the first time Nat mentioned a life before SHIELD.

"This is the first time I've heard you talk about your family," Bruce says carefully not wanting to spook Nat into clamming up, "what was your mom like?"
