Canon is The Covenant
The story of my life is not gay porn. Stop calling it that. It was an important time wherein I was trying to save my life, and keep my power in the process. Get over boys in swim trunks and get on with your life.
...
And I didn't "get off" on that punch. You think anyone bearing this face gets hard over pain. Trust me. I've seen the shit you've looked at with the guy with the metal arm.

Sorry, was he being punished or was someone trying to kill him?
no subject
[He just can't help himself.]
He was running his mouth, someone that was you got fed up with it and told him to assume the position. You then did a number on his ass which, if I remember correctly, he enjoyed. A lot.
Want more details?

You probably don't need to keep going. I think I get the gist.
[ It's time to turn this around. Or at least, try. ]
Is this the kind of thing you usually keep up on?
no subject
[He's trying to be helpful! Except not really.]
Usually, no, but since his crazy ass has been around, she's let the rest of the doppelgangers out of the box so I'm taking advantage of it.
no subject
And you're... Which one are you? You mentioned having powers? What kind of powers?
no subject
Chase Collins. Oooh, that's admitting a lot. What's the saying? If I tell you, I'll have to kill you? Inherited abilities handed down from a family line that goes back to the Burning Times. Mostly elemental.
I've though about claiming to be some of the others. One's an actual prince so could get interesting.
no subject
[ Being a prince sounds pretty interesting, but having strange powers sounds even more so. ]
Did you succeed? In keeping your power and saving your life?
[ Ignorance of Chase's less than benevolent actions makes it mighty easy for Steve to be concerned for his welfare. That and the whole doppelganger issue. It's his Achilles' heel. ]
no subject
[He winced then because that was a question he wished he had an answer for.]
Million dollar question there. I say yes. For now. It will kill me eventually though.
no subject
[ That doesn't sound like magic at all. ]
What good is magic if it can't save your life? Isn't that what it's for?
no subject
It can, yeah. Unless I find a way to control it. Usage depletes you. Problem is, you really can't stop using.
Apparently not. In this case it's just there to taunt you, to tease you with wanting to use and killing you bit by bit when you do.

Like the Norse god, or just a coincidence with the name?
Could be interesting, talking to other magic users. I'm really not keen on death of old age by forty. Hell, I'll be lucky to hit thirty the way I'm going.
no subject
Can you stop using it? Just for a little while? Would that help?
no subject
Can I stop? That's a damn good question. Don't think I could. If I stop it would stop the aging. I just can't stop.
no subject
So there's no spell that would do it? That could keep the magic contained?
no subject
Might be. Probably better than the ways I've been going. [Not that they hadn't been fun.]
Not that anyone has found. The magic is addictive, and it feeds on you every time you use. The more you use, the faster you die, but the addiction makes you want to use all the time.
[He'd never really talked about this with anyone who wasn't from home and it was definitely interesting.]
no subject
Is the desire to use it tied into how you're feeling or what's going on around you? If you start feeling the need, can you be distracted away from it?
no subject
[He considered what he should say, how much to share. What's the worst that happened? Another car crash? Problems could always be solved. All except one.]
No. It's always there, it possesses you. Some work past it, but they know from the beginning what it can do. I never knew. I didn't know until it was too late and I was full blown addicted.
no subject
And if you do fight it, you can buy yourself time to find a cure. You don't have to die. You don't need to let it win.
no subject
There isn't a cure. The death is the price you pay for using. You get this power at thirteen and suddenly you're a god. You can do anything. You're invincible.
Five years later you find out using is a death sentence. By then you're so addicted you can't stop. I couldn't if I tried. It's natural. Like breathing.
no subject
Then what about finding a way to prevent your death without going cold-turkey on the magic? You said it ages you. What if there was a way to combat that? You could keep your life and the magic.
no subject
[Way to confuse Chase. He wasn't even sure what to think about this. no one had put this much time and effort into him. Course, he tried to kill most around him, so that might be why.]
I had a way for it, but the person wasn't willing to play. Still trying to work around that and get him to will me his power. I'm not sure if it would last forever, but it would buy me time. Sadly that plan isn't working.
Do you do this a lot? Try and help save the lives of strangers.
no subject
[ And from the way it sounds, Chase needs it. From the power that's eating him alive, from the addiction, from these people who refused to help him. ]
I don't really know much about magic, but if there's a way for me to do it, then I'd like to help however I can.
