Scattered all over Dear Mun are hundreds of sheets of paper, some stuck to walls, but most just strewn across the floor. And on all of these sheets of paper is written the same message:



Amaterasu herself can be found scattering even more of the papers, looking quite pleased with herself.]

[Now, this is mildly confusing; Celia is (or was, depending on how you look at it) a member of an organization called the Guardians. Not the same Guardians that Amaterasu means, but the girl doesn't know that.]

[Amaterasu woofs happily from beneath a pile of papers, her wagging tail scattering dozens more.

Compromise. It's written right there.

A shame Amaterasu has no idea who or what she's looking for aside from some names, so for all she knows, Celia could very easily be one of the people Pitch listed off for her.

And so the god wolf picks up one of the many sheets with her mouth and pushes it into Celia's hand.]

[She takes the paper without protest, but even so she's visibly uncertain as to what is even going on.

As far as her own world was concerned, she didn't exist anymore, so anything addressed to the rest of the organization there ultimately had very little to do with her anymore—not a pleasant thought to admit, but one that she's starting to view as truth.

As far as the world she's now a part of is concerned? She's the only individual there to actively use 'Guardian' as a title. Or maybe just a job description. As such, the note's addressing more than one Guardian would seem a little bit silly if it was really intended for her.]

I'm not sure if I'm one o' the people you're lookin' for. Is it just Guardians in general or are there some specific people you're tryin' t'find?

[The words appeared in ink on the bottom of the sheet she's holding, as if an invisible hand with an equally invisible paintbrush were writing it as she watched.

The wolf said nothing, and just continued to sit on her pile of papers.]

[Whoa uh— That's pretty neat actually. The whole SUDDENLY WORDS thing.

But instead of letting herself be distracted by the awesome, there's an answer that needs answering.]

Ah, okay, my name's Celia Espellomente, and I don't think I can say any o' those names are familiar to me. [Such weird names, too. She's not from any world that has any stories about them.] They might be from a different world I haven't heard of yet.

[Oh. Whoops. The wolf whines just a bit, ears drooping. Well, if you see anyone on that list, could you pass it on? She's kind of doing this to help a friend.

Well, 'friend' might be pushing it, but she thinks he's okay, even if he is kind of a grump.]

[The note surprised him, but only slightly. He pats the wolf's head.]

Well you found one Guardian. If a little young. I will talk to Pitch.

[Alice knows them! Another version of them, but still.]

They aren't fighting, are they?

{She knows North and Bunny are at each other, back and forth. Jack, too.]

[Not with each other, as far as she's aware. She's mainly doing this in an attempt to foster some genuine communication between them and the delightful monochrome fear spirit she's just met.

A plan which she may not have thought all the way through beforehand, since she doesn't even know what to look for (she assumes one is a rabbit by the name), BUT THAT'S NEVER STOPPED HER BEFORE.]

WOOF!

[She knows who that is! She doesn't like him, either, especially after getting into a fight with him twice.]

Compromise? With him? What good will that do?

[Oh good, she can understand her a bit better than Pitch can without her having to literally spell it out. This makes things easier.

From what she understands of the situation, these 'guardians' want to get rid of Pitch, who is the spirit of fear. But fear is necessary is moderation because without it, people would throw away caution and get themselves hurt or worse. Plus, when people are afraid, they tend to pray in gods and spirits more, so it's beneficial to benevolent deities as well.

Getting rid of fear entirely would upset this delicate balance. Hence, 'compromise.']

Fear isn't bad. [Not inherently. The words paint themselves into being on one of the sheets closest to Alice, both the brush and the hand that wrote them invisible.]

[Just like Sandy, she recalls. He is just as voiceless, painting his words into pictures, similar to her. But Alice grimaces; she can see the purpose of fear, however, being over come with fear most of her life, she's grown tired of it. It has held and propelled her in her life.]

If there is too much of it, yes.

[Despite her deep dislike of Pitch Black, she can appreciate that sentiment. To a degree.]

[If there's too much, then yes, it can be bad. She's not arguing that point. It's necessary in small amounts, though.

Compromise goes both ways, after all. Pitch reigning in his power and these 'guardians' allowing him a bit more freedom to re-establish the necessary equilibrium.]

Balance

[Oh, aren't you interesting Ammy. He's no interest in her actual objective, but it's a convenient excuse to approach her.]
