Speaking of William, I'm pretty sure I'm overdue for a visit with the little guy.

Yes, you are. I know that William would love to have some playtime with Auntie Bobbi .

Does he like stuffed animals? I swear, he's going to be the most spoiled little boy in the entire world once I get my hands on him!

He loves anything plush and soft. He's already got a few teddies, but he's starting to tear into them. Between me and Hank, we spoil him enough.

Oh, but they grow so fast! Before you know it, he'll be bounding along after you!

He's almost old enough to start hunting on his own, so that's a possibility for the near future. [Then a thought.] But he's also Hank's son, so, who knows what else he'll get up to. I might come home one day to find him building robots.

He can have the best of both worlds and build robotic kittens.

Hey! Don't encourage it. I've already got enough big science babies to take care of.

Speaking of big babies, how's life in Malibu treating you? The boys aren't driving you crazy, are they?

[scratchings]

It's not without the usual hiccups, but so far, we're doing good. We lost a member or so to another faction, but it was of her choice. There had to be some disciplining of the students quite a bit, but they're definitely learning from the experiences.

Old friends volunteering as teachers also helps. And Hank and I are taking things slow...

[mocks]

Maybe I should drop in for a special training session sometime. I bet I could teach those kids a thing or two about how we used to do it back in the day.

I'm happy that things are working out for the two of you.

[scratchings]

You sure about that? Because we had Spider-Man over not too long ago and apparently both he and the students drove one another nuts. Besides, we're still waiting to see when Clint loses his marbles. That straight face isn't foolin' anyone.

[A nod, and sentimental, small smile.]

Heh. Keep an eye on Clint, will you? I know he's a big boy and can take care of himself, but I can't help worrying that he's spread a bit thin these days.

I'll keep an eye on him, but maybe you should drop by and use the ol' Mockingbird charm. You always were good at pulling Clint aside and getting him to see reason.

It's always been a specialty of mine, but I'm not sure he'd appreciate me interfering with his life.

Did something happen between the two of you? I thought you were patching things up or...did he just want to gloss over all the issues?

It's a little complicated, but you could say we're on a break.

Hopefully he'll come around. In fact, I know he will. Clint's been off center a bit but in the end, he's always found his way back to you. Albeit, with a couple bumps on the noggin and some scars, but...

You should amend that to "require open spaces and a scratching post". It's more truthful.

[Eye roll.] I think William needs the scratching post. He's already starting claw at couch legs.

I am relatively certain that if Luna had scratched at furniture we would have had her examined for developmental problems.

He's only a kitten, Pietro. He's still exploring.

Well, I think we tend to maneuver the tight corners easily enough. Though it certainly does little harm to not have to.

You know me, Hank. I need big spaces for running, jumping, and moving in general. A little corner to curl up and take a nap on is fine, but give me fresh air.

I suppose I'm a bit individual in that. All I need is a nice perch, and I can stay cooped up for hours without intervention.

[scratchings]

Well, you have your nice labs and computers to keep you busy. I have a school full of kids and one little rambunctious kitten.

Who says I don't have both? I just built a school from scratch over the course of a few weeks!

I will surrender the point of the kitten, however. That's one thing I haven't had to deal with.

Point made. [She grins.] The kids treating you right? Or do you have little munchkins to run after?

Well, you know how it is, a little bit of time travel and suddenly the youngest mutant is sixteen years old. But whether toddlers or teenagers are tougher to handle, well, maybe you're in a better position to conclude that.

[scratchings]

Maybe it's best we don't tempt fate with an answer.
