Muse suddenly grew loud
What do you mean with "loud", mun? I'm just expressing myself! Can't expect me to remain silent as you replay the game.
Gotta say, seeing Squall's and everyone else's adventure is reminding me of good ol' time when Kiros, Ward and I traveled 'round the world. Sure there were some hard times, but it was so much fun! And that beat sitting in my office all day with for best distracting to try and understand Odine's gibberish. Just the other day he came and started speaking about his latest 'revolutionary' ideas regarding para-magic... I didn't understand a word.
Know what, in fact we should do it again! Going on an adventure I mean. [ ... ] Aw come on mun! Deep down you must be wanting it or I wouldn't be here, right? I'm sure there'd be plenty to write about all these worlds out there.

[ Sorry not sorry but he's seen his not-son go through succession of frustrating tutorials and he's not trusting you with giving headache-free explanations. ]
no subject
[ Just frantically press that confirm button! Maybe it'll stop her... ]
Of course, I can understand if you would rather not. Most do find Para-Magic and Junctioning -- beyond the practice of it -- to be rather dull.

[ Incredulous staring. Goodness, she's like an Odine on steroid. Gotta think of a way to say "no" without being rude... And lo, have a Laguna suddenly pointing behind Quistis and grabbing his machine gun. ]
Hey! I see a monster!!
[ There's nothing to be seen but hey, maybe that was a monster's ghost. That was probably a monster's ghost, yup. ]
no subject
Sir, you're not very good at this, are you?
[ Quistis tries not to smile and fails quite miserably, corners of her lips twitching upward. He certainly is very different from Squall, isn't he. She only looks out of the corner of her eye to check and only does it after she speaks. ]
It is alright. I understand. Another time, perhaps. When I've learned to practice brevity to a more full extent.

[ Damn, spoke too quickly. Hum, what to say, what to say? ]
S-see, this reminds me of something that happened to me a couple years ago when I had to go for a formal visit at Tears' Point. I was to have an escort, but I arranged for the guards to be too busy elsewhere so I went with only Kiros and Ward. We took a car and off we went! Except I, well... Sort of mistook the fuel pack for a water bottle. [That kind of mistake happens to everyone.] So halfway we had to continue on foot.
But then as we walked; not a single monster around. Nothing, it's like the monsters were hiding or on strike. It was creepy, but at least we didn't have to fight! And then suddenly out of nowhere: a Geezard. That was weird, I mean there are never any Geezard around Esthar, right? We contemplated what could be the meaning behind the Geezard's appearance and I went ahead to poke it and see if it was real-- Well, it was and it bit my finger.
So Kiros killed it in an instant and moved ahead with just a sigh. Ward though, he gave me an ominous glare. Y'know, one of these glares that say "One day, that Geezard will come back to haunt you."
[ Weird story but totally real. He then crosses his arms and nods, like someone who just solved a great mystery. ]
I think we may just have seen the Geezard's ghost. We better remain careful. [He smiles brightly.] In fact, that's perfect! Rather than explain me, you can show me directly on the ghost. An example is worth a thousand tutorials after all. Maybe that's the key to brevity.

Of course that did not mean that he was not playing her. In this instance, however, she found that she did not terribly mind it. Perhaps it would be different were he her student. Was this his version of "a mog ate my homework"? Likely so, she thought. ]
Ah, but if that is the case, it seems like it is here for you and not I and as I recall, this was about form and not function. We all know how it works in practice, not theory. [ She takes a step back and bows a little. ] Please, carry on, Mister President. Unless you've gotten rusty? I suppose I could ask for reassignment, considering what danger you appear to be in. Invisible monsters happen to be a very serious threat. So serious the protocol of which to deal with them is not detailed in any SeeD literature.
no subject
[ A serious threat? Is she talking for real? Because Laguna totally thinks she is. He hadn't really believed the Geezard would come back to haunt him, but... It's official now he's going to be praying that Ward was wrong. Anyway, he scratches the back of his head embarrassingly. ]
On second thought, I don't think it really looked like a Geezard. Maybe it was just a hallucination cause by... A sudden surge in emotion?
[ The fear of a three hours long tutorial will do that to you. ]
no subject
[ She thinks he might be taking it too seriously. Perhaps he'd meant the anecdote and hadn't made it up on the spot? Maybe he had even seen a little something out of the corner of his eye? Who knew. The inner workings of Laguna Loire still were a thing that eluded her -- and Quistis prided herself on being able to read people. ]
Oh? What kind of emotional surge were you experiencing?
[ She immediately purses her lips. Teasing is all well and fine, but she knows that she has a tendency to accidentally fall into a more flirtatious category of it. And that might be be A Little Weird (capitalized), so she shuffles a few careful steps back, folds an arm under her chest, gestures some. ]
Which direction do you intend to head? If you do not have anywhere in particular in mind... may I be so bold as to offer you a suggestion?
no subject
Words have little power to describe the intensity of an emotion. My legs refused to move, my mouth felt dry, I felt butterflies flying in my stomach, even my breath grew steadily. I was unable to speak then, even if only for seconds-- In fact, I'm afraid words still escape me to describe what these emotions were. It was unsettling to say the least.
[ It's called "fear". His melodramatic description done, he raises an eyebrow at Quistis and nods. Well, to hope this suggestion will go better than her offer for explanations. ]
Yes, yes go ahead and be bold!

[ She remembers things like this, from the "dream world" that Ellone had sent her and the others off into. She suspects it is very easy to like Laguna Loire and because of that, easily let him get away with such behavior and, more specifically, she feels that she can intimately understand how Kiros Seagill must feel at times. Kiros : Laguna is Quistis : Selphie (and/or Zell). Frustrating, but the sort of company she would not trade for anything else.
This would drive Squall absolutely insane, though. She can already imagine his expression (and it's amusing). ]
I suppose I could not ask for a more encouraging response. I am at a place called Holly Heights, alongside Squall, Selphie, Rinoa, and... Seifer. It appears that Zell will also be joining us shortly. Your company would... be pleasant. Sir.
no subject
[ What's with everyone being so formal every since he became President. ... Well that's probably related to the function of being president. Not that he feels any different from how he was before. ]
Holly Widths? Now that sure is a strange name. [Who names a place Holly Widths anyway? The world shall never know.] How are things going there for you all though? I've seen some of the places my mundane sent other muses too--
Scary.
no subject
[ She's pretty sure that Selphie would immediately jump on the opportunity, however. Quistis would like to look at her as a pro as well, but... Well, maybe there are certain circumstances under which such behavior is acceptable? ]
Heights, sir. Though I do not disagree with your assessment. [ Suburbia wasn't exactly her sort of thing.] I... am afraid that I am aware of such places, but have never been in one. Thankfully.
[ She isn't about to discuss horror or smut with the President of Esthar. She would have to do the honorable thing and fall upon her sword first -- so to speak. ]
It is... a little strange and there have been somewhat uncomfortable moments, but I do not dislike it there. It's the first time in a long while that I have had a break. Although, I would caution you due to those sham marriages. [ A creeping of venom into her voice. ] And additionally, reservations close tomorrow and applications are only for the first week of a month. Which can be inconvenient.
no subject
[ A sigh. SeeDs are way too serious. Back when he was in the army, well they were respectful toward their superiors but they knew to be relaxed and out of protocols whenever needed. Which is to say, whenever possible. Yet again, maybe it was not the army as a whole but only the three of them.
On second thoughts, maybe it was not the three of them but only him. Oh well. ]
Sham marriages? [Wide eyes.] Sweet mercy, I can't imagine you or Squall putting up with that kind of thing. Or any of you for that matter. What'd they do that in the first place?
[ That qualifies as horror to him. ]
Pretty inconvenient yeah, probably a bit short on time for my mundane. Maybe if I help mun with directions we could be there on time though...
[ It's officially lost. ]

[ She wouldn't say it to his face, but he wasn't exactly the ideal soldier. He abandoned his post to go flirt with a girl in the middle of her act, after all. (She also wouldn't say that.) ]
Ah, well, he is under eighteen so he is considered a child. He lives with his assigned sister and no parents, so I suppose he is dealing with it better than I. [ Her response further is a vague semblance of a shrug. ] I'm uncertain of the landlord's goals.
It isn't so bad and I do not dislike it there. It has given me the ability to see from another perspective and to... experience things I would otherwise not. [ She stifles a laugh, however, clearing her throat. ] I am certain that it is only a matter of time, sir. Regardless of where you find yourself, I am sure your company will be enjoyed by those present.
[ That was, in fact, a compliment. ]

[ Dedication he wouldn't be capable of. Though he may tend to agree that he wasn't that great of a soldier. He was only interested in travelling after all, going to war... Well, that sort of was the price to pay for travelling for free. Which means it wasn't really free in the first place, but details. ]
A child? Squall? [He scratches the back of his head, again.] Ouch. Now I am curious to see how it must be going there... Though it means you're an adult there? Wow, didn't think you were older than him.
[ ... But he, at least, has enough common sense not to question her regarding her age. He's done that mistake often enough in his life to know people don't like to talk about their age really. He smiles brightly then. ]
Hey, thanks! I just gotta get my mundane to actually move y'know.

[ His writing wasn't incompetent, either. He was just more suited to a... more creative aspect of his job. A sightseeing journalist as opposed to a soldier fighting battles he didn't believe in. ]
He doesn't seem too concerned about the label. I imagine it is because he has no assigned parents, however. [ Just an assigned sister and a pet turkey... uh. ] I am older than he is, yes.
[ Nineteen in October. Nineteen going on forty, to be specific. Somehow being in Holly Heights works for her. Then again, she likes working all day and focuses very little on her personal life beyond it. ]
You are quite welcome. I do look forward to seeing you, assuming you eventually arrive. Further encouragement may be found in the fact you could use our interaction here as a sample -- and there's no need to reiterate your history. Though... I must admit I've a fondness for discussing such things.
[ She covers her mouth and stifles a laugh with a vague cough. ]
Try not to find yourself too lost, sir.
i still havent really put icons on this account but omg laguna
( Why are you here. )
He's just. Giving Laguna a look. Forever. ]
at least squall doesn't display wide arrays of emotions!
Squall! I didn't expect to see you around here! How are you doing?
LMFAO too true
In this moment Squall regrets all of his life choices.
( Why did I even answer? Now he's never going to shut up. ) ]
Fine.

Y'know now that it's all over and we've got some time before us, I think it'd be a good idea for us to have our long overdue discussion, what daya think?
[ All your fears are confirmed, Squall. ]
no subject
Squall doesn't flinch, but, well, he's certainly more tense than he was a moment before. He's been avoiding this for a damn good reason. ]
Aren't you busy?

[ Spoiler: you will be staying here all day long either way. Fate can be quite the cruel thing. ]
