Apped to the Wake

You - you wrote an entire application and sent it in without my consent or even consultation. Really. [Sherlock's eyes harden, a lack of warmth in them.]

Well, when this falls to pieces, I hope you don't expect much sympathy from me. I am not particularly inclined to give it even under the best of circumstances, and the bet of circumstances permanently ended for me a long time ago. You do not even have a plan for my participation in the events that will unfold there. So not only is this endeavor pointless, you have no concept of what to do if you succeed. It's no surprise you're not as smart as someone like myself, but this is several steps below even your own standards.

Aw, the city's not so bad! Sure it can get a little weird sometimes, but by now it's like a second home to me.

My issue is more with the utter lack of consideration to my previous agreement with my mun and her subsequent actions rather than the destination itself.

Yeah, it kinda stinks when muns don't tell us about the crazy ideas they cook up. I try to stay optimistic, but sometimes...

She has no plan. That's what makes me wary of this, for she is not a woman of great improvisational skill. So far she is, however, looking forward to playing upon my past failings to try to evoke 'angsty' responses from me in the name of character growth.

Which is far from the worst thing she's ever done, but is still highly vexing to have to look forward to.

Ugh. Yeah, that stuff really stinks, too. But at least muns usually let us have our good times along with the bad - er... most muns do, anyway. And most of the people in the city are usually nice enough to have plenty of those!

[Nevermind the fact that the bad ones there are murderous psychopaths.]

So long as she doesn't involve me in romance and allows me to continue solving crimes, I feel I can adequately endure the rest of her plans. But tell me more about the inhabitants of the city. Are they by and large of other species such as yourself, Mister...?

An' a couple of the others in the city are like me. There's one of my best friends in the city, Nott. He's kinda like me, or at least he's a fox, but he's also from a different world so we're kinda different in our own ways.

Then there's Sonic, but he's not a fox, he's a hedgehog. There WERE others, like Owen, he was a rabbit, and there was there WAS my friend, Knuckles, he's an echidna...

But I think a good lot of the city's made up of a lot of different species. Human, giant robot, AI, aliens, stuff like that!

...alright, I have to admit, I'm actually rather interested in the concept of meeting giant robots and aliens, as such things are so far removed from ever happening within my lifetime in canon.

Yeah, some of the stuff in the city's kinda out there as far as my world's concerned, too. The giant robots weren't really that much of a stretch, but being friends with one sure was.

The likelihood of my forming friendships with anyone is always suspect regardless of species; I have a tendency to sabotage such things with logic and exposing people's crimes. That said, perhaps there will be a crime or two to challenge my intellect in the city. It has been far too long since my last adventure.

I'm pretty sure there're at least a couple of logical people in the city...

So I guess that makes you some kinda detective! That's pretty cool!

I am. Not old enough to be in any professional employ, but I have not let that slow my work or allow me to turn away from people in need. Too often in my world Scotland Yard disregarded cases that could have been solved, and lives were lost in the process that need not have been.

I don't know what help I can be in the city, as I don't know it as well as London. Regardless, I will do what I can.

Hey, not like Sonic and I're exactly cops or anything, but it doesn't stop us from doing what we can for OUR world. Sometimes you just gotta take things into your own hands if you wanna get things done or stop everyone from turning into robots.

Or being boiled alive in hot wax, in my world. [Yes, that is a thing that happened. Five times.] But I see your point. I have never let a lack of resources weaken my resolve.

Then I think you're gonna get by just fine in Nautilus. The city could probably use more people like that.

I'm not sure my mun wants me to get by just fine.

Wish I was actually in the city now, then maybe I could be a little more help there than I am, here. Jus' be on your toes if someone named Hazama or Blackout tries to help.

You should be aware that by telling me explicitly to avoid certain people, I am almost inevitably bound to investigate them in great detail using legally questionable methods.

If you're gonna do that, then... be careful. Hazama has some really creepy abilities an' Blackout... well, he's a giant robot who murdered someone within an hour of arriving in Nautilus.

I guess that doesn't really help you in the city where you won't remember any of this, but I'm sure you'll run into 'em sooner or later.

Criminals need to be brought to justice. I thank you for the warnings but I cannot allow being outmatched on physical and power levels be cause enough to stand down against someone of those descriptions.

Undoubtedly. My luck, if I believed in such a thing, has ever been a magnet for such things.
