voice testing, and potentially looking for a home?
You're not ready yet.
But you will be, with some practice. All things take training. And as with any partnership, you must familiarise yourself with the other person. Get to know them. Their quirks, ways of thinking, how they move and feel and see the world. How they have lived, and how they will die.
Or am I assuming too much? Perhaps I am nothing more than another soldier to you. Obedient. Disposable. As is inevitable.
And if that is all I am, what is my mission? Practice is useless if it does not have an intent. Think on it.

BOSS! <3
[What the hell?]
Snake! *^*
She frowns, unsettled at once.]
Who are you? [Not Jack, she knows that much for certain.]
no subject
My name is Snake. Solid Snake. You're the Boss but how?- You're meant to be dead. [Well done, Snake. Subtle as usual.]
no subject
I was the Boss, until that title was passed on. [But don't change the subject, boy. History is history and she has more pressing interests:] Who gave you the name "Snake"?

That's good. My mun's going to have to find a game for me soon as well. The one I'm current in is ending at the end of the month.

<_< >_> how do you feel about dressing rooms excluding here
...Boss...?
{ It's a dumb thing to say, obviously she was right there. But... it was hard for him to believe, especially considering how fresh he was to killing her. }
I prefer games, but I'm willing to give anything a look!
[There's a certain tenderness when she says his name that she reserves for few. She doesn't begrudge him for anything; just the opposite, in fact. He did his duty, and she did hers. Ocelot was right, though, he does look spooked.]
I told you before. I'm not your Boss any more.

You're a soldier? [ Though, that sneaking suit she had on was giving it away that she was no ordinary soldier, let alone a civilian. ]
no subject
Yes. My unit was known as the Cobras. [She crosses her arms, surveying the (apparently) older man.] I suppose you must be a Snake, as well.
no subject
[ Starting to sound familiar. He'd never heard of a unit like that before... ] First foxes, then rats, then cobras...
[ Snake nods his head only once. ] Solid Snake.
no subject
[If they're talking about the same units she thinks they are, anyway. Who knows how many new groups and organisations have emerged between her time and his.]
You're another "son of Big Boss", then?

as if her final lesson for him had been on how to deal with and accept betrayal and heartbreak. well, he's having none of it anymore. ]
That's funny. In my experience, you can spend half your life alongside someone and never really learn anything about them.
[ yeah, he's bitter. and done. ]
not at all <3 DELICIOUS BARF.
And if two people share such a bond, there would be a good reason for the use of secrecy. Even should it cause the other person pain.
[If he's going to play at vague "someones", she can do the same.]
I taught you as much, Jack. In black ops, such outcomes are inevitable.
<3
[ it's sudden, and harsh. her precious Jack died a while ago, when he pulled that trigger; what's left is an empty shell burdened with titles and expectations heavy enough to crush a man. ]
Is that your excuse for turning your back on me? For denying both our existence? You didn't care about the people you left behind when you put down your gun, did you? You had to choose the easy way, because it's inevitable!
[ says the man who will stubbornly refuse to die for decades while everything and everyone around him burns to the ground, because that's still better than being a coward who will not fight back. apparently. ]
