Thor and kittens. Let the madness of adorables ensue. :)
[Thor enters, carrying a large, cushioned pet carrier which appears to be mewling. In his other hand is a sack with a plethora of items. He sets the pet carrier down on the floor first, only opening its door when he has removed kitten feed from the sack and filled five puny glass bowls with it. The kittens, black shorthairs all, go for the food immediately, though some attempt to move around their bowls, fending off their food from each other.]
[He seems to consider the fuzzies toddling about on the floor, as he asks a query of his mundane.]
You are sure, mun, that Lokis will be drawn here? This is an odd method, for contacting him.
[The kittens, now done with their meal, are a handful, and Thor has to work to get them all back into the carrier. Some attempt to scale his shirt instead. He lets them do so, as he gets the more energetic ones back into their carrier first.]
I shall hope it works, for it would do well, to have good news in this time.

Is it?
No?
WHY?! .....riiiight..... because Loki may have given Thor this particular idea in one way or another? But... Okay. Yes. He should have expected that. Thor tends to follow through with strange ideas.
So why hasn't he just stayed away and at his library? WHY?!Sorry, Thor. He's not speaking to you. Just sitting there. With his book. Staring and frowning at the same time.
Go away, please?]

[His brother's horrified expression is not what Thor had anticipated, upon the sight of infant felines. As such, Thor looks puzzled and somewhat amused. He is fairly happy when around the kittens, really. The thought of being able to gift a Loki with one, causes Thor's jovial nature to make an appearance, in spite of his recent losses. So he happily calls out to the Loki who is seemingly horrified by tiny fluffy animals.]
Loki! Which version are you, brother?

After several moments of just watching, the book gets set aside and he slowly shakes his head in disbelief.]
I... Had not expected you to actually do this.
[He partly wants to get up and take a closer look at the animals, make sure they are real. But displaying any sort of interest wouldn't do. So he remains right there. Watching.]

In this, you underestimated us both. You should know better.

Where did you get these?
[And can he let them out? This many kittens sure would cause a decent amount of mischief if left to their own devices...]

Midgard, [Thor responds,] They are of different litters. As not all of the kittens of each litter, fit the personality you had described. I'd thought other yous might benefit from them, as well.
[While it would be easy enough for Loki to let them go, Thor might have trouble reclaiming them all, in any kind of quick order.]

.......
[Nope. Not saying a word. Just watching the chaos unfold. And Thor may find himself witnessing how this horde of kittens starts scurrying around and climbing all over the place...]

[Thor is pleased when Loki opens the carrier, presumably to get a closer look at the kittens. But his eyes quickly widen as he crouches to try to impede the progress of as many tiny cats as possible. The way that they climb all over Loki, and the way that Loki just grins... The pain in Thor's heart is suddenly pierced through by warm laughter. This -- this inanity and joy -- this was home. Thor's little brother being his annoying, endearing self. And with kittens everywhere. Thor cannot stop laughing, rushing to sweep up and cradle three of them in his strong arms as he watches Loki and the other two.]

[Loki muses aloud, not paying too much attention to his brother. He doesn't mind one of the kitten playing with his coat. The other has curled up in his lap for a nap. Just then does he notice his own we, and he pauses. Then peers up slowly. But can he hide the small smirk? No. Not quite.]

[One of the three kittens that Thor had managed to reclaim, had wriggled out of his gentle grasp, and was currently in the process of squirming out of his arms entirely, attempting to climb its way up the outside of Thor's shirt with its claws. Thor flinched backwards as it stuck its fuzzy face into his, clonking its head against his jaw. Laughter rose from him again.]
Loki, you appear to have unleashed an unstoppable force of infant felines-hhh [The cat nuzzled Thor's bearded jaw again, causing that last word of to be muffled.]

This is a force you might not wish to take lightly, brother. Neither you nor your mortal friends could resist them if I had an army of them under my command!
[He's joking.
...mostly.]

But tell me. Acquiring these can hardly have been the only thing you have been keeping yourself busy with since we last spoke, can it?
[He knows you better than that.]

Jane trains for the Trials, with the Lady Sif as her very capable tutor.
[Thor continues avoiding eye-contact. Yes, he is studiously avoiding mention of your alternate.] There have been few battles, for now.

[He tilts his head and blinks at you, entirely innocent.]
The question was, how you spend your days. Your little girlfriend is of no interest to me.
[Not unless he can somehow manipulate her for his own matters. But... Yes. He's judging you. Planning to make a human immortal? So much judging. Soooo much even that he gets back onto his feet, bringing the kitten that had been napping in his lap with him while the other manages to sit/hold onto his shoulder. Does he look a little ridiculous that way? Well. He doesn't particularly care.]

I... see to healing my brother, at least... I try. And my duties about Asgard have become numerous. It would seem... Odin thinks me ready, soon. I do not think myself to be.
[He sighs.] I have barely a moment, on some days. Others... well.
[He gives a tired smile, gesturing at the cats.]

So he really is making you Asgard's new King. You might as well be glad that you have your brother safely locked up and that he remains there instead of abusing your trust and concern for his wellbeing to set himself free again.
[Because the is what he would have done long ago~ Bid his time, play along and fake the good brother to accumulate the trust he might need to walk free again. This Thor's Loki seems to not succumb to this sort of mischievous motivations, which is... Odd. But makes the following word worth pointing out.]
Do not take it for granted that he is still there. From the way you speak I am almost certain that he might have been able to escape at least once by now, had he wanted to. Yet... You still have him.
no subject
Some days... I wish for his escape. [Thor admitted quietly, as Loki finally found the source of his guilt.] I know he is a danger yet. To himself, to me, and to the Realms... But this is wrong. Cruelty I would never inflict, if there were but another way. This takes... far too long. I had thought he would be home, by now. I am not grateful that he is yet kept in that place. Save for the safety of all involved. He deserves better.

Yet, your situation is an odd one to begin with and I may be wrong alltogether. Still I dare to believe that if he escapes... Then your chance is gone for good.

[Thor gives his brother a sad little grin.] You always afford me such helpful perspectives. When you are not trying to kill me. You have my thanks, brother.
