I have no idea who you are but my mun wants me to inform yours that they are a wonderful person. [Ignacio's completely flat tone of voice doesn't give away if he has any opinion on the matter. He tries not to have one on most things.

I give lectures, sermons, after punk rock concerts sometimes. You know, to spread a little hope. Some of the flyers are looking a little...militant lately.

The tone of voice you use suggests there is something wrong with that. While I have very little knowledge of what your work entails, would it not be simple to explain to whoever makes the posters you are not intending to invoke that image?

Not that I see anything wrong with things looking militant, but my world is very different from other people', so it stands to reason my world's military may be different from others as well.

Sometimes getting through to Simon is a little difficult. He means well. A friend of mine is just dying to say 'I told you so' if this gets us arrested. I'd rather that not happen if possible.

What is it you are saying or doing that would be cause for an arrest?

Protest.

Protest against corporations. Against the 1%ers. Against the people that see to it that the downtrodden remain down.

In my world the class system in place seems to be working fine. So long as everyone is alive, does it really matter how wealth is distributed? I went from one end of the spectrum to the other and if truth were told, I am more broken as a rich man than I ever was as a poor one. Perhaps the problems of humanity go deeper than income.

I would not know, mind you. I have not been outside the main Vinyaya Tech laboratory complex for four years, and my job is to protect human life with science, not study society.

Income is simply a start. It's self worth, education, belief in one's self, and everything else that comes with it that is rooted in the poor getting poorer and the rich bloating up coffers that hardly need it.

Charity, kindness to one's neighbours-- I'm not sure it's completely achievable but I can't sit back and do nothing.

Healthcare is an important aspect of that too. If only current healthcare did benefit all of humanity. It does not. It's pay for play.

That said, I am sorry you are finding your life to be difficult. Do you have someone to confide in?

My world is different than yours. Health care and food are provided for everyone who does not have a criminal record and who agrees to let the government place an appropriate amount of monitoring devices in their home. Education is based on your own intelligence; the system sorts people out to where they will excel at an early age. That is how I went from no one to someone people continually refer to as 'the solution to the world's problems'; I am smarter than is perhaps really beneficial in the long run.

I do not require anyone to confide in. I have found ways of keeping my emotions balanced without having to show weakness in front of others.

The world is imperfect. But there is a reason everyone refers to me as The Solution. If I can use science to make the world livable again outside our one continent, people can be free. They can leave the government behind if they want to; it would certainly ease the food shortage issue. I will fix everything. It is my sole purpose in this life.

I am fine. I always will be. That is just simply what I have to be. Eventually, certain things just become the norm. Eat, work, sleep. Repeat.

That's no life at all. Everyone is born for a purpose and yours sounds far more noble than mine.

What do you mean? I am alive. I have quite a bit of work done that can attest to that. I have not been lapse in my duties.

A system of government never means to lose power. One as invasive as what you're describing makes me worry.

I'm not a proponent of anarchy, though perhaps a little bit of govern thyself should be enacted.

I have no doubt that you do your best. I wasn't slighting you. Your gol is worthy.

It is, for the time being, the only government in the world. As such everyone shall simply have to learn their place in it and stay afloat until things can become better. This is not an ideal situation, but it is what must be done to survive for now.

Things will be better, eventually. I am seeing to it. It will just take time.

I'm sure your sacrifices will be noted, but you said yourself that you've been stuck in one complex for years.

What is it that caused such devastation in the first place?

[He's learned not to say 'zombie apocalypse' because it gets him the flattest of looks. So instead, he goes with a more technical explanation.]

A virus that caused insanity and rapid death among the general population that soon spread to almost everyone. What people we have left are the ones who did not die fleeing the insane masses. Currently the virus has mutated and contaminated almost all food sources, resulting in food shortages and very desperate people, hence the need for a very strict government to keep things from collapsing into chaos and fear.

If I can just cleanse the world of the virus, everything will be alright. Not right away, but the world will at least be inhabitable.

A very difficult situation indeed. A dire one at that. And it puts you in a difficult position should you be unable to complete your tasks in a time fashion.

But you can not forgo living. Help others, yes. But also help yourself.

It seems to me that you may be losing your humanity to save the rest. You really ought to find someone to confide in. Every person needs that.

If anything, sir, I am all too aware of my humanity. It is why I have the deleterious behaviors that have led me to being forced into long sleeves most of the time. [And no, if you don't ask him right out, he will not outright state it because in the mind of Ignacio everyone is smart and capable of picking up his meanings.]

Besides, I am 'The Solution', remember? I can not be seen as weak by anyone when I am meant to be a symbol, a beacon of hope to my world.

God was ruled a scientific impossibility in the late 2050's. Atheism became the official majority 'religion' chosen by the people of the world according to census records by 2100. God was a nice idea that comforted my ancestors. I hope that it helped them through the world during those turbulent times. I would like to think they drew comfort despite their harsh economic situation from the impossible ideas presented in religion.

But it is 2153 now. There is no God. There is nothing greater than what we as mortals are. There is science, and there is fact, and there is the survival instinct within us - these things keep the world going, keep everyone alive and striving forward. One of the prices of truth is not being able to take comfort in the ignorance of our ancestors.

I am sorry. I know that is not an answer someone from your world or time can understand. But it is the truth.

The strange thing about belief is that it can't be proved or disproved. And even if you don't believe, you can still have conversations with Him.

I have the scientific knowledge to know how the universe started and how the Earth formed and how evolution works, and everything else primitive man turned to religion for.

I do not see the point in talking to a non-existent entity people made up to comfort themselves before they understood the world. It will not yield any results.

No one to confide in, no belief system at all. Perhaps after you finish being the solution for your people, you will be able to live for yourself again and find happiness.

What is there to believe in? What proof is there? I would believe if there was a hint there was anything there. But if there was a higher power, it has left us. Forsaken humanity entirely, that we might die and strain and fight for every inch of land we live on. That is nothing I wish to speak with if it does exist.
