[ if there's one thing that Alphinaud does right, it's taking things in a graceful stride. Unlike most who would easily banter with their new "companions", Alphinaud chosen to do the opposite. ]

Pace yourself. Burning the midnight oil shan't grant you any success. Haven't you forsaken rest long enough? A quiet slumber is in order but I shan't be the one to force you to bed. If anything, I humbly request that you do.

[ he chuckles lightly. ]

Although, if you refuse to seek rest I suppose we could continue with our work. There's much to be done and not nearly enough time to do it. Cid shall need our assistance soon enough.

What is it with people and not wanting to sleep? My writer was just saying "No, I don't want to sleep! Maintenance is like saying I don't have to go to bed, but I can't play here!"

I can assure you that none of this is fun and games. The two of us have business to attend to and we must work tirelessly to accomplish it.

Come now! Had I known we would need to make way to the Highlands, I would have never wandered there without a decent coat. However, my lack of...suitable clothing needs not to be mentioned here.

[ That's Alphinaud's way of telling her to "shut up". ]

[Humble, and Alphinaud? They are not quite exactly two subjects he'd place alongside, though there's a small, polite, raise of the hand. And a very small smile. The ascian thing is all water under the proverbial bridge of course.]

[Perhaps the young arcanist learned some humility during the course of his adventure or maybe he's trying to impress his mun. So don't give him too much praise, Thancred.]

Only lend me your assistance if you truly desire to offer it. You're still in recovery.

Rest assured, mine desire to get back into everyone's good graces is dwindled only by the desire to do something. There is such a thing as too much rest, and I am quite inclined to feel that is indeed going to be the death of me ere long.

[ Thancred, you should have just taken that small reprieve when you had the chance. ]

Now that our foes have been vanquished and the Empire's lapdogs no longer a threat; I suppose now we could focus all of our attention upon the matters at hand. I speak of our current plight of course. As fond as I am at the thought of guiding yet another hero to our ranks, I would much rather focus on finding a way to rid ourselves of this foreign land in favor of more familiar soil.

[ A slight smirk appeared upon the boy's lips. ]

[Two of the empire's lapdogs are, yes. Which leaves at least twelve other legions just waiting to invade - and twelve ascians just waiting to attack. Gaius van Baelsar and the XIVth legion is actually preferable in the face of what's to come and Thancred of course is skeptical, but remains silent as he listens, only responding when "familiar soil" is mentioned.

Tell me, are all of these muns so...persistent? I certainly hope not for my sake if nothing else.

Personally, I'd think it varies between them. Many of the others here seem quite bothered by theirs. Mine seems… content enough to take chances where they may lie, though.
