Yeah, uh, I don't really much want to talk about half of that stuff myself, mun. Still kind of hurts to look back at things with Archie. And Eugene and Jack. And... ah hell, you know how it goes from there.

Still. Mission accomplished. Megalomaniac dead, Abel alive for another day. Break out the champagne and glasses and toast our good fortune.

[Abel and Jack and Eugene.

Names that trigger interest, the latter two more than the first. His knowledge doesn't run deep, but every now and again, along come a few more bits and pieces to the story of their lives. Needless to say, he has a gist of what awaited the two upon their departure from Luceti.]

...A companion of theirs, are you? [It's a question asked with a playful lilt to his drawl, coming from a man with the eyes of a big cat. Pale and watchful and keen. He sits relaxed with one leg crossed over the other.]

[Runner 5 turns his head to look in Isaac's direction, unease visible in his eyes. The adrenaline's running just a little bit too high to allow for total ease. Call it a consequence of running for your life from a vengeful madman.]

Yeah. Runner 5; they're our radio jockeys at Abel. You know them, mate?

[As it turns out, 'a vengeful madman' is how more than one person has thought to describe Isaac in his lifetime. He notes the tension and smiles thinly in a way that suggests he has all the time in the world to devote to the conversation.]

Who wishes to know?

[Five crosses his arms and frowns thoughtfully. Eugene and Jack can handle themselves- had handled themselves long before coming to Abel Township. But he's always been protective when it comes to his friends. That will never change.]

Me. Don't tell me they never mentioned the Runners.

Well, 'Me'...

[He pauses, chuckling through his nose.]

Jack I have come to know rather well, freckles and all.

[Know indeed, in the sense of the word most didn't necessarily think about first. A Shift had scrambled the poor man's head, making him look to Isaac in a way no one had ever looked at him before. It had been a fun evening tinged with bittersweetness -- but now it's an event best left in the past for the both of them. He huffs a soft laugh, imagining Jack has already long since pushed it from his mind. Then, with a lazy wave of his hand, he adds:]

I have spoken to Eugene on a few occasions. ...The least endearing of the two, without question.

I will never be over the end of S2. Never.

[voiceinthedark]

I'm glad you're safe, Five. I never thought it was you, y'know.

I just feel like I should have realised earlier.

Me either. Ugh, all the feels!

Yeah. I know. We were both wrong about a lot of people, but never us. Never about you and me. [He grins crookedly in a show of encouragement.]

Chin up, Sam. We've beaten the odds up to this point. I think we still have Lady Luck on our side yet.

Way too many feels. It's hard to run while sobbing.

Yeah. Never about us. [He manages to smile back, because Runner Five will always be there.] I've always got your back.

I- yeah. We do. And now we can start rebuilding. We could get rid of the zombies.

[The names may change, but Runner Five goes on.] And I got yours, Sam.

No more zombies. No more madmen. No more walls. [Now he mock-punches Sam's arm.] And maybe some ice cream for you after all. That'd be good, hey?

[He laughs softly at that and nods, his grin widening.]

Yeah! And maybe eventually we'll even get hot showers and Doctor Who back. I mean, with a new cast, obviously.

I think we might actually be able to persuaded Janine. She looks like she could use some. Well, she actually looks more like she could use a few stiff drinks right now but...

[Operation: Cheer Up Sam is a success!]

Obviously. Not unless we can train zoms to follow stage directions, anyway. ...I think one of 'em probably escaped the apocalypse, anyway. The celery one, or maybe the one with the big ears.

[Oh Janine. Five winces none-too-subtly.] As long as it ain't tequila.

We could try but I don't think they'd manage the dialogue too well. And I mean, would you want to be shut in an enclosed studio with the rotting corpse of David Tennant?

[Or y'know, any rotting corpse really.]

Well, I don't think she actually cares about the taste but I think there's something actually tolerable in the supplies. I wouldn't mind a drink myself. I'm pretty sure we've earnt it.
