It’s true it was tough for me in the beginning; my world wasn’t the easiest to live in, even if it was your favorite out of all the AUs you’ve ever done. There were a lot of times when I didn’t think we’d make it. Right up until the end, I thought I would never get to see my friends again.

You proved me wrong. That’s how you are, right? You can’t let something go without a happy ending. I know the story isn’t over yet, not when you’re taking me new places and all, but…

We won. We’re not quite the same anymore, but we won.

Planets is one thing, but whole universes is something else entirely. I haven't gone far yet. There's too much risk of not being able to get back. But just talking with people from different places is pretty interesting.

[ He does perk up, though, hearing about other worlds. ] You can visit other planets?

I didn't realize that was common in other universe. Where I'm from it used to be impossible to go from world to world. That's what books say, anyway.

It seems like a lot of other places don't have space travel, but we've had it for thousands of years. It's pretty standard by now. I can't imagine being stuck on one planet for your whole life.

I used to hate the idea. Just one place forever?

It felt like the worst thing in the world.

I think I would've liked it more if I had been the one choosing when and how I left.
