Much as I admire your ambition, mundane, there ought to be reasonable limits to one's enthusiasm— and that goes for both the upper and the lower ranges. Surely asking that you, what's the expression, roll a rogue in order to more fully explore my storyline isn't asking much, is it? You need to find something to keep you occupied until Tuesday.
Oh, have I hit a sore spot? But frothing at the mouth won't increase your chances of finding one last runestone, much as you may wish otherwise. There's no need to become bitter about it; it was your decision to delay fulfilling my requests, not mine.
Come now, there's work to be done. Even if you and I both know the outcome, procrastination is, as ever, the thief of time. And haven't you had enough of that already?

They're definitely a lot smarter than the mortal races, that's for damn sure. Can't say I blame them.

Have you met many of us?

Kaiba reaches into his pocket, and pulls out a trio of these, flicking them around to show him.]
To say the least.

These are playing cards.

They're more than that, actually.

Explain, then show me.

Oh? Don't trust me?

I never waste time.

Then I admire your diligence. The explanation, if you please.

Still a dragon, though, so explanation it is.]
They're printed on paper, sure, but they can also be called forth. Summoned into a duel, as monsters that live and breathe like the real thing. Basically a proxy battle between two people, in place of actual fighting.
Interested now?

You have my attention. How does this summoning take place? What are the conditions of this duel? I would be glad to learn more of it.
no subject
[Smuggest of grins ensues after mentioning that.]
The conditions are simple: eliminate all of your opponent's life points to win. You attack and protect yourself with monsters, and power them up with magic. Simple, right?
no subject
And the losers, do they die?
no subject
[Yeah, his game's awesome. He knows.]

Show me.
[An order, a childish demand, does it really matter what it is? Kaiba has effectively won this battle, so play the damn card.]

[Bonus points for dragons, of course.
The cards glow, a stark, shiny white, and moments later, those same dragons coalesce behind Kaiba into a single, massive beast. Sharp-toothed, three-headed, and damn convincing for just trading cards, indeed. Are they?
Judging from how closely and protectively the monster is hovering behind its master, it might not be a good idea to find out.]
Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon. [Kaiba lifts a hand, and the dragon obediently tips its necks down, obeying the gesture.] Don't worry. It's friendly.
[Mostly.]

Well that
oh.
Wrathion stares upward, staring transfixed at brilliant scales, all three heads, and fierce, intelligent blue eyes, his own wide. This Ultimate Dragon isn't quite the size of his father (but then what is, really), but it's still enormous, impressive, and worth a certain degree of awe and respect. Summoning this creature using technology he had developed— no, perfected? What had been the original technology? Who had created that? The Titans? Or...
A hesitant sniff reveals that the three-headed dragon is tangible enough, at least for Wrathion's purposes, and so he falls back to simply watching it curl around Kaiba, a contemplative look soon settling over his features. The two share a bond, that much is clear from the way they interact. If that's the case...]
How is it that three individual cards formed one being?
no subject
[The dragon purrs, and Kaiba tips a smile back at it, clearly fond in spite of his earlier snappishness to Wrathion. Somebody's got a weak spot for scaly lizards, so it would seem.]
The three Blue-Eyes White Dragons, and I alone am their master. The sole owner of the rarest cards in the world.
no subject
Is that so?
[The words come out in a murmur as he continues to observe the two, noting both the purr and the smile in particular. Interesting. This human is worth more notice than he had thought.]
What other sorts of cards are there? Tell me.
no subject
[Though he has a feeling he knows what would really catch Wrathion's attention, so...]
But you might be interested in the Egyptian Gods, in particular.
