Well, everything we're told about him you kind of expect someone heartless and cruel. Like you said, he did create Acnologia - no to mention his involvement with Deliora and Lullaby.

I know I know, we're talking about the same guy; But when I met him face to face he was... very... he seemed really repentant. I don't think his tears were fake. It was weird.

I don't know what the majority of other Dark Guilds were after, but Grimoire Heart's intentions were to use me to create a world in which only wizards were left. They would amount to killing almost ninety percent of the entire human population. Exactly the kind of thing Acnologia would respond to.

[ Ouch. ]

Okay for the magic, then, but what about the demons? Lullaby, Deliora and all that?

[ Lucy and Natsu haven't asked him about them, yet. Erza doesn't say much of anything to him, though she has taken it upon herself to keep a close eye on him, and even became his roommate to do it. Juvia's absolutely terrified of him, though he did recognize her, and apologized for having nearly killed her when he accidentally killed Zancrow. ]

It's a very long story.

[ The mundane's personal theory is that, given the timeline and what we recently found about E.N.D. and Silver, he was a Well-Intentioned Extremist who used the Black Arts to fight dragons, since apparently, demons are one of the few things other than Dragon Slayers that can fight a dragon and win, and didn't care about who got caught in the crossfire. Acnologia was him crossing the Godzilla Threshold, and Acnologia became drunk with power shortly afterward. ]
