This isn't my fault
[Nyx hmphs softly, looking around with a somewhat strained look on her normally expressionless face. she's not exactly certain of where her not-quite-so-dear mun is, but just to be certain she'll glare at just about everything (or everyone) around her before she flatly adds:]
I refuse. It is utterly beneath my dignity... both your ideas are. Do not allow yourself to be talked into foolishness. Must I remind you of what I am?

...Tell me about yourself. You feel too similar to my child.

There isn't a whole lot to say. I don't have any parents - they died when I was a kid. Explosion, car crash, I was the only survivor. I don't really remember any of that too well, though.
Let me know if I make any incorrect assumptions! :)
[there's a hint of a question in her voice... she knows that that's what usually happens with Minatos, but obviously this one might be different. very different]
...None of that explains why you feel like the Appraiser rather than him. Most strange.
I can give you a basic rundown of the AU?
...Huh? Mechanical- you mean Aigis? But- [Death...no wonder. No wonder. Ikutsuki had talked about Death, but-- your son. Death has a mother. And then that last part hits with the force of a bus. Minato's world shatters, but the pieces start falling into place immediately. That's why he's been so sick, isn't it?]
I'm-?! [He chokes on the words. Oh...oh god...]
o7
[her voice softens, just a little, and the goddess gestures to the ground around them. or a nearby seat, if one exists in this strange place]
Do you need to seat yourself, child? You do not seem well. A small wonder considering what seem to be your circumstances, I suppose. And do you have more detailed information on how this came to be? It is most... unnatural. Or the whereabouts of my son?
[and now that soft edge is gone]

He's the one Ikutsuki talked about. He's the "prince" to orchestrate the Fall. The world is going to end and it's Minato's fault.]
I-I don't...I don't know... [He didn't know anything. A hand flies to his mouth, he feels sick. Tears force their way from his eyes.]
no subject
Do you know who I am? I assume you now understand what you are. What that means.
whoops popping in here
He doesn't need to know who you are or anything else you're trying to tell him. Leave him alone.
yay Minato's knight in shining armor
But he nods in response to Nyx's questions. He understands. God, he- what the hell is he supposed to do? Why him? What the hell happened to him?]

[no no, that's not a note of relief in her voice, you're just imagining things. it's not like hearing her child does not exist-- or ceased to exist, somehow-- in whatever bizarre reality this Minato does from has her upset or anything. nope]
You would have him suffer in ignorance? Understanding the particulars of his fate will only help.
[really, she doesn't understand why you both are being so emotional. none of this is her fault... not directly at least. it was humans who stole Thanatos from her and attempted to master death. it was their mechanical creation who so disrespectfully sealed her child in a mortal boy. it is humanity who are calling to her to fulfill her most ancient duty and bring their chapter to a close... for every beginning must have an ending, yes?
being the Appriser is a vital and very dignified position]

I could have explained it to him myself. All you've done is made things worse. So just leave him alone. I'll handle this on my own.
[He doesn't seem to care about her relief, meeting her eyes with barely controlled fury. Humans may have brought this upon themselves, but Minato has been nothing but kind, and doesn't deserve any of this suffering. He needs to take care of him... and he needs to do so in a place where Nyx can't get to him.]

Everything in his mind goes white and he can no longer hear the conversation. For a moment, an apparition of Thanatos appears around him. In Minato's world, Death hasn't vanished, it's still sealed inside him - only it's taking over, using him as its only outlet.
That only lasts a moment, though. He forces his mind back to attention, trembling worse than before. He feels like he's forgotten how to breathe.]

I am reasonably certain my level of politeness and tact is the last thing on the human's mind. In fact--
...
[oh, that is interesting. very interesting. she might be starting to understand the exacts of this situation and how it came to be. it is unlike anything she has ever witnessed in her long existence... and it's also almost another relief to see part of her son manifest like that. certainly food for thought... in fact, she's just going to watch, night-dark eyes still curious and thoughtful, rather than make any effort to assist the mortal. her child-- as foolishly emotional as he now is-- will see to that anyways]

[Ryoji stands up, heading to a spot directly between Nyx and Minato, to block her view of what is happening and shield Minato from at least any harm not caused by the reaction of Death to Nyx's presence. He isn't sure if he can do anything about it, but... maybe he can somehow direct Nyx's power to focus in on him? He doesn't really know how to do that, but it's worth a shot.]
no subject
He can't be saved, not now, or even spared any pain. It's bad. The transformation may even speed up the longer he's in Nyx's presence. He's definitely radiating Death at a more potent level now.]
no subject
in any case, no, sorry Ryoji... she's not that interested in you right now. she's going to instead be trying to use her presence to influence Minato's state, even though outwardly she's just standing there calmly.]
no subject
Leave him alone! Whatever you're doing is just causing him more pain! That isn't right! Are you that cruel that you'll make someone's life miserable just to further your goal? Not everyone wants what you think they deserve.
no subject
His eyes are open, but he doesn't look like he's seeing anything. Nothing real anyway - maybe he's looking into some other world, full of horrors and nightmares. He's trying to hold on, trying to retain his humanity, but his situation is grim.]
no subject
[now that it has begun, Nyx is finding she doesn't really need to expend that much effort or energy to ease Minato down the path of being the Appriser... and soon enough, her Avatar on Earth, there to bring the Fall that humanity has asked for through their feeding of Erebus. what has begun... likely can not be stopped now]
no subject
[He rubs Minato's back, forcing back tears as he tries to hold his friend's body steady. If he can just get Nyx away, maybe they can ride this out...
No. He's wasted enough time on the sidelines. He lifts Minato off of the ground, gives Nyx one last glare, and starts to run.]
no subject
His hands are starting to twist into claws by the time he's lifted. He's worsening rapidly - it's not stopping - and he's clearly still struggling against it. As much pain as he's in, Minato is trying to hold on, fighting this with everything he's got.
...He's probably suffering worse for his will to live.]
no subject
and it has begun.
and so, Nyx softly smiles. and waits]
no subject
H-Hey... Minato, just keep fighting... I'll think of something. I can find a way to fix this, I promise.
