Very loud muse, canon is Pacific Rim

For the thousandth time, dude, I don't love them I study them! There is a big difference. Like, huge, enormous- While I agree that you can't dedicate half of your life and free time, and skipping dates, and research about it if you straight out hate the thing, you know, but I definitely don't love them.

Alright maybe a little. Like, in a scientific oh-my-god-alien-lifeform way. Got me? Who wouldn't be excited about that, right?!

Also, what you're doing now, here and now? While I'm all up for studying on the job and gaining experience firsthand and all those cool things, I still think this is a damn suicide run! You haven't even finished reviewing my canon, dude, what the hell! I demand to get checked very thoroughly and carefully before you do something rash like this, okay?!

[ quiet amusement because, that's a pretty loud, vocal argument you have there ]

I know you're trying to say 'no,' doc but all that seems to be coming through is a resounding yes on getting picked up as a muse, canon review or no canon review.

[ you've never met, and yancy was never really big on reading up on kaijj intricacies, but yeah ]

You have them branded on your body, Newton; I highly doubt there's a mixup.

Am I really supposed to believe that the Kaiju immortalized on you are supposed to represent your fears to be overcome? Nobody here is that foolish, rendering your tantrum quite pointless.

As usual.

Oh, honestly. It's less to do with the lack of numbers and more to do with a very intense lack of clear appeal for having the very creatures that are destroying the world imprinted on myself or anybody for the rest of their foreseeable lifetime.

[ he huffs. newton, please. but still - that certainly is an idea. ]

But if you're going to dig this hole for yourself, far be it from me to take away your shovel. I insist on the Neyman-Pearson lemma.

Not only that - the entire proof.

Does stomach-churning qualify as a thrill for you? Because it doesn't fit my definition. Then again, you've proven time and time again that you don't know the definition of "distasteful," either, so you'll forgive me if I'm not surprised.

[ NO THAT WASN'T PART OF THE DEAL. he grimaces. ]

So you'll twist it into another way to be petulant. As though I'm not subjected to that every day.

[ FINE, HANDSHAKE. he's so writing an angry email about this later. ]

Sometimes the best way to learn is to not keep flapping your lip, bro.

At least you have a voice to practice, Doctor. I am still finding mine.

That depends on who you think I am, I suppose. I do not yet read minds.

[ despite herself, she finds herself smiling faintly at his enthusiasm. ]

I am indeed. Thank you, the compliment is very gracious of you, Doctor.

I have always found my pilots to be quite reasonable. We have defended mankind together for a long time. Some can be quite arrogant, though, I agree.

.. Newt, then. You work with Doctor Gottlieb, da?
cherno: (as i belong to you)

[personal profile] cherno 2013-10-07 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I am very grateful for Doctor Gottlieb. Without his early efforts, I would not exist. The two of you truly have such difficulty in getting along?

He wrote my programming. The world still believed in us, then.

I agree that alien life is exciting, but I wish that it was a bit friendlier.
