It would be far more rational to let me just continue on with my life. I do important work, you know. Catching criminals? Saving lives? [Her gaze turns a bit withering.] It's much more important than games.

What would I even do, stuck in some magical fantasy land? Autopsy the elves? [That's hilarious, she'll give you a moment to laugh. Done? Okay.]

I'm needed here. I have obligations, I have a partner, I have...a family. [Something in her expression softens, only for a moment.] Who knows what Booth will get himself into if I'm not there. Or Dad, what if he kills someone again? [IT COULD HAPPEN.]

[ There's no way for her to explain. Just like there's no way to make Brennan understand why imagining Hodgins in less clothing than most greek statues gets her through the day. It just won't compute.

So instead, she heads down a different track. ]

It's not always elves and magic. If the people I've talked to aren't completely crazy, there are plenty of places that would rather just kill everyone in their sleep.
