Hmm...so you've pulled me from my research and from the many tasks I have yet to accomplish all for the sake of this game of yours?

Interesting.

And, just how long do you expect to keep a witch from her work? I'm a very busy woman, after all. My research on black blood is still incomplete, you've become almost as much of an annoyance as that arrogant sister of mine - and we all know what happened to her, do we not?

Come now, must I really take part in all this? ...very well, be it so. But I'm not responsible for the harm that befalls you because of this inconvenience.

Be prepared to find snakes in your bed this evening, my dear mun.

...although snakes are the least of your worries, aren't they?

Here, have a shinigami who isn't Shinigami-sama.

...excuse me, but heibon-kun wants me to ask you from what point in your research you've been taken. Presumably, your answer will at least make sense to him. [The figure in the black kimono bows.] I am Rukia Kuchiki, a shinigami of Court Guard Squad 13.

That seems to have been enough for him, particularly as regards the battle. He's saying something about you being... "temporarily killed"? How is that even possible? Killed is killed, returned to the Cycle of Rebirth.

[...Rukia thinks anything called a kishin is probably better left unrevived, but she's not yet ready to offend this woman by saying that to her face.] Although I don't know any of the people you mentioned, so your world may not be mine. Do the names of Rangiku Matsumoto, Gin Ichimaru and Sajin Komamura mean any more to you than those of your assistants and opponent mean to me?

As to the 13 Court Guard Squads, our most important duty is to maintain the balance of souls between Gense, the world of the living, and the Soul Society, by ensuring the passage of souls through the Cycle of Rebirth. For the most part, we carry out this task in the world of the living, by performing konsô, soul burial, on the spirits of the dead, and, when necessary, by purifying those spirits that have become Hollows.
Edited (There's more than one O in the Japanese term for soul burial. ^^;;) 2013-09-09 19:43 (UTC)

You have a great deal in common with Aizen, it seems. A great many events that would have ended anyone else's plans were only temporary setbacks. Of course, he'd had a century to lay his schemes with only his immediate allies aware of them.

I'm told I was born in Gense, but I have no memories of it. I passed over to the Soul Society as an infant and grew to my present age there. In every meaningful sense, it is my home.

Hollows are souls whose hearts have become empty. [Rukia fetches her notebook and draws something reasonably similar to this or maybe this.] They eat other souls in an attempt to fill their inner void. I'm comfortably certain that any zanpakutô which could eat human souls would be destroyed along with the shinigami who wielded it.
