A short list of three reasons why you shouldn't even think about sending me somewhere horrible and dangerous, by Charlotte Dyer.

My username means "failure" in Spanish.

I'm the only regular person out of a family that's anything but normal.

Plus I'm pretty sure my life qualifies as miserable.

I want a lawyer.

I don't argue with your premise, but a lawyer? Why on Earth would you want to get one of them involved? They'd only muck things up, and you'd probably end off worse than you would have without them.

I'd say I don't understand that, but if I understood muns, I could probably handle easier problems as well, like world peace.

And there never is. I'm starting to sound like the proverbial broken record, but it seems like our discomfort only ever encourages them. For what it's worth, though, i hope you won't go anywhere too dangerous. Some of these places sound flat out terrifying.

I literally can't argue that point. Even when the muns start talking about "character building" and "hero's journey" and sprinkle all kinds of English lit dust on it, that doesn't make it suck any less.

And I don't want to pry, but feel free to vent if you need to. Believe me, I know how frustrating dealing with muns can be, both in games and in our own worlds.

Yeah, the whole smile-and-tell-everyone-its-okay-even-though-it-isn't racket? I know that one.

It's up to you. Like I said, I don't want to be nosy. But, y'know. [He taps one of his long ears.] I'm kinda designed to be a good listener.

And where you come from, some of those bumpers do manage to restrain themselves? At least there's that. And I take it you were born without any powers yourself? Does that keep you from the hunt, or are you able to work around it?

Oh, I see. That would certainly explain the lack of a reaction along the lines of, "Oh wow, a talking rabbit! I must be dreaming/hallucinating/on drugs/drunk/whatever excuse!" I'm eternally grateful for that, by the way.

Does your family treat you any differently because of it? Well, other than the fact you're not able to go on this Hunt with them, of course. Though, and I'm not much of a silver linings guy, there are two up sides. One, you didn't get a boring, nondescript hair color out of the deal. And second, at least where you come from, if you're born without powers you get options other than the cull list and test subject.

No offense taken. I'm actually rather partial to not being seen as weird.

[His ears press back, betraying his feelings on the matter even though his expression remains even.] That's a shame... though I've come to see family is sometimes less about blood and more about how you feel toward them. Even if it does sound really after school special-ish.

And well, we all have to play with the hands we're dealt, right? And it sounds like you've found something you can do, regardless of how you were born. [One brown arches upward.] What do you blog about? The supernatural, or something else entirely?
athousandenemies: (You don't say!)

Some people always make the rest of the group look bad, just because they refuse to step outside their little bubble and see how the rest of the world works. A buddy of mine back home looked at it like this, that's why they make chocolate and vanilla. Because some people like crappy ice cream.

It sounds like you're making an honest living, which is more than I can say for some people. [My, Owen, you're looking a little guilty as you say that. Whatever for?] And of course, with all that on your plate, your mun's thinking about sending you somewhere. eh?
athousandenemies: (A little nervous here...)

Nope... long story short? The scientists who made us made a whole lot of different types of hybrids. He was a maned wolf... just picture a fox on stilts, and I think you've got it. [He smirks a little at the thought.]

That's good! Everyone keeps yapping at me about finding my own path, but then they get all upset when it involves... [He stops himself and grins sheepishly.] Uh... liberating ill gotten gains. Having that freedom is good. I just hope your mun doesn't have plans that involve it getting disrupted. They always seem to enjoy doing that.

[He tilts his head to the side.] From the sounds of it, you're not too excited at the prospect. Any idea what kind of place she's sending you to?
